I'm running Zero atm, hoping that if I play with friends I can rock Maya in either her support role, or in the blow everything sky high role
Zero is a challenge atm, because I'm putting my skill points into the Bloodshed Tree, opting for the melee stealth beast (I wish he had an option of just melee lol, and my right trigger would swing the sword instead of firing the gun).
I had some issues with Doc Mercy, but only because I had to get closer to him to stab/shoot from behind so instead, I kited him back to my vehicle, took out most of his health with the vehicle and then got out and shot him up with my sniper rifle lol
I'm having fun, but I wish I had others to play with :(

I found a bandit shotgun with 50x10 damage and some bonus electricy-ness, suffice it to say my shotgun assasin is coming along nicely . Got a 'nova' shield at the end of my session, any good? Thinking it could come in handy. The most difficult things for me so far have been 'badass psychos' (they have a ground pound that they use on my decoy which makes it hard to shotgun them) and the 'assasinate assasins mission' i died rather alot on the last guy. Tbh my main gripe with the game is how little difference the skill tree makes early on, i am level 12 and aside from a steadier aim i have less bonuses to my stats than i get from some 'class mod' i found in a chest early on.

That is not true at all, it just depends on the skill tree you go with. Having the health regen for Axton when his shield is at 100% is obscenely useful.

I'm kind of with Perkustin atm... I'm level 10, and my melee damage has some bonus to it, so I rarely notice any buff, but the health bonus that I have has made the difference in some of the fights...

OK, here's what I don't get.
The reanimation thingies, you know, the machines that resurrect you, are part of the hyperion corporation.
The Hyperion corporation is your enemy.
So how come Jack doesn't just say; "you know what, let's unplug them all. There are only savages down there anyway."
Doesn't make much sense.
I get that it's for game play reasons and all, but still, it's strange.

Zer0 solo isn't too bad as Cunning.
You're still a frail assassin, but cunning makes decepti0n just purdy.
Most boss fights go like this: pop Decepti0n. If I can run to the guy in 4 seconds and shoot him with shotgun, one shot him with the shotgun.
If he is too far away to reach in 4 seconds, hit him with a damn rocket and do over 10k damage in one shot.

How many guns are there? The last game had like only 7 guns and it was a little disappointing.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.
If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in. |

Pretty much the same. The 87 bajillion guns line is a bit of lie.
More like, 87 bajillion variations of the same gun, but with slightly different stats.
Not any different from most RPGs, really.

There are pistols, sub-machine guns, assault rifles, shotguns, sniper rifles, and launchers.
Then you have the manufacturers of the guns:
Dahl - Low recoil, Burst fire when zoomed
Bandit - larger magazines
Hyperion - Negative recoil, higher accuracy
Jakob's - High damage, fire as fast as you can pull the trigger (you can unload these faster than many of the auto guns), never elemental
Maliwan - always elemental
Torgue - Explosive ammo
Tediore - gun turns into a grenade when you reload it
Vladof - high rate of fire, rate of fire increases the longer you hold the trigger down
Then there are the elements:
Shock
Fire
Corrosive
Slag
And then there is is the Eridium tech guns

I haven't had any problems with Zero and most bosses, but I probably don't play him right. I run around with my exploding assault rifle and blow everything to bits. And I found a nice bust fire sniper rifle. I don't let anything get close, if it does I'll do the hologram thingy and run away, then finish em off from a distance while they're distracted.
I haven't really tried melee though, but I don't really melee anything at all unless something wimpy is in my face and I don't want to waste ammo on it.
The commando is probably more my style, but I don't want to start over now.

So ive been looking into this and am considering buying it soon. However I cant decide if I want to play as Zero or Axton. Zero looks the coolest and is good with snipers (which are my favourite weapon) however my usual tactic is playing as a Tank and shooting stuff with marksman rifles at mid-long range. For this I think axton would be better but I have never liked spawning turrets.

The difference in the weapons is the way they fire. I'm not sure if any of the old weapon types made it into the second game, but an example from the first game would be a Thumper and an Anarchy. Both are SMG's, but a Thumper has a slow rate of fire with high bullet damage, while an Anarchy fires multiple shots per bullet (2-4 shots). Both had their uses, and both were capable of being very effective, but they were effective in different ways. And then there were variations on the same gun. There was an orange quality SMG called a Hellfire that had almost a 100% chance to ignite enemies, and so it was extremely useful on a Siren, but the thing is, they could spawn as Thumpers or standard SMG's. The Thumper versions were near useless, while the higher ROF versions were extremely useful.
Another example is a Repeater and a Revolver. Both are pistols, but both work very differently and both can be used on different builds to excellent effect.
I'd say there are more variations on the different guns in this game, but it's impossible to make a game where the guns don't basically boil down to several common archetypes like Pistols, SMG's, Rifles, Snipers, Shotguns and Launchers. I suppose you could re-invent the wheel and come up with a few totally new types of guns, but it's hard to do that on a consistent basis.

Let me put it like this.
Axton's "Gunpowder" tree?
It lets you spawn your turret via Longbow technology. Longbow technology is tech which "teleports" an item from one place to another while ignoring the intervening terrain.
His end ability for "Gunpowder"?
It's called 'Nuke'.
Not like "Oh, he calls in a nuke!". Like every time you deploy your turret it sets off a nuclear explosion. It is absolutely freaking hilarious, especially given that you will be deploying it via Longbow.
With "Gunpowder", you deploy the turret into the center of the action while you stay back and plink with a Rocket Launcher (which you get bonus damage for! Yay!) or Assault Rifle (which you get bonus damage, faster reload times, and larger magazine sizes for! yay!).
His "Guerilla" tree is centered around him using the turret to cover/suppress enemies while he runs up and blows them apart with grenades(which he can get the most of in the game, with 18 providing you get lucky and get a +5 Grenade Capacity Relic. Otherwise you'll have 16 max), gunfire, and sometimes his hatchet. He's also reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally survivable in this tree because of an ability which makes it so he constantly regenerates 2% of his HP whenever he (or his turret!) deal damage to an enemy.
Not "kill", just "deal damage".
His end talent here is "Double Up"...which adds a second gun to your turret. Via Guerilla, your turret will be a freaking monster with Multiple Rocket Pods, double MGs, and the ability to constantly apply the "Slag" effect to targets. "Slag" means that enemies will constantly be taking crit damage...so they die fast.
Survival is not really that fun for me, but it's a support tree. Your turret generates a force field which deflects enemy damage while allowing you (and your teammates!) to shoot from within unimpeded. Don't throw grenades though...they don't go through unless they're Longbow grenades.
The end talent here is "Gemini", allowing you to deploy 2x turrets simultaneously. With the force fields and "Mag Lock" ability in the tree(Mag Lock allows you to deploy your turrets anywhere. From the walls, ceilings, or even stuck to the top of a moving vehicle...) you'll have some interesting ways to hold down firezones for your team.

Except it's not.
The difference between a Dahl SMG and a Hyperion SMG is significant. The difference between a Vladof AR with the minigun barrel and a Torgue AR with the minigun barrel is staggering.
And let's not forget Tediore, the one gun type which rewards you for reloading early and often by being an extra grenade and dealing damage based upon how many rounds are in the clip.
Each manufacturer encourages a different playstyle and works differently on each of the characters. When I play Axton in his Guerilla spec with a Dahl SMG and my Hyperion sniper rifle, it is a very different playstyle to the same character in his Gunpowder spec with the same weapons.

Each manufacturer encourages a different playstyle and works differently on each of the characters. When I play Axton in his Guerilla spec with a Dahl SMG and my Hyperion sniper rifle, it is a very different playstyle to the same character in his Gunpowder spec with the same weapons.
Wait, where did you find a Torque minigun? I didn't even know that existed.
Anyway, I just have a different view of the game. I really felt no difference between the guns (with the exceptions of the manufacturers. I think giving them different traits was an excellent idea, and certainly added some variety), except for damage output and rate of fire.
Although the Torque series of weapons are pretty interesting. Its like being a Space Marine ^^
Maliwan also gets a special mention for having all elemental weapons, and for a cool sniper rifle reload animation.
