I know that. I knew very well they meant a "hell lot of guns"
And that is true...sort of. If a small change in the rate of fire or an extra point of damage makes it a whole new weapon.
As I said, its no different from diablo, so as a marketing point its a bit dodgey.

Except it's not.

The difference between a Dahl SMG and a Hyperion SMG is significant. The difference between a Vladof AR with the minigun barrel and a Torgue AR with the minigun barrel is staggering.

And let's not forget Tediore, the one gun type which rewards you for reloading early and often by being an extra grenade and dealing damage based upon how many rounds are in the clip.

Each manufacturer encourages a different playstyle and works differently on each of the characters. When I play Axton in his Guerilla spec with a Dahl SMG and my Hyperion sniper rifle, it is a very different playstyle to the same character in his Gunpowder spec with the same weapons.

Minor differences in dps does not make a new gun. It's like saying that minigun from UT99 is totally different than stinger from UT3.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

Almost every weapon you will find, barring named Legendaries/blues/purples with red text("lore items") will have randomized characteristics.

Torgue assault rifles can, just like Vladof assault rifles and Dahl assault rifles and even Jakobs assault rifles, have the "minigun" styled barrel and ammo capacities.

Sorry, where did I say that?

Tediore weapons are disposable. You do not actually fire those guns that often, you're firing a few shots before reloading and throwing them at the enemy as a grenade.
Hyperion weapons encourage you to continually fire, as their accuracy/stability improves with repeat fire.
Dahl weapons are naturally the most stable with the best recoil, but all fire in 3 round bursts.
Maliwan weapons each have a different elemental characteristic, meaning that you will actually encounter some enemies at some point which will outright resist your weapon damage meaning you have to swap guns or change up your playstyle accordingly.
Vladof weapons have okay accuracy, okay recoil, but fire faster the longer the trigger is held down. Many of their weapons also have a "reduced ammunition usage" trait meaning you fire longer, which is a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallly good thing for Vladof Rocket Launchers.
Jakobs weapons fire each time you pull the trigger, and fire as fast as you pull the trigger. They're lever actions for the most part, and comprise guns like Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, Pistols, and Assault Rifles.

And that's not even counting E-tech guns, which can be any of the manufacturers/weapon types, and instead of dealing normal weapon damage instead deal energy weapon damage.

Buddy of mine found a three-barrelled Jakob's minigun.

Suffice to say, he was a bit disappointed at the prospect of having to pull the trigger for each and every shot. Kinda defeats the purpose, but I thought it was hilarious.

There are pistols, sub-machine guns, assault rifles, shotguns, sniper rifles, and launchers.

Then you have the manufacturers of the guns:
Dahl - Low recoil, Burst fire when zoomed
Bandit - larger magazines
Hyperion - Negative recoil, higher accuracy
Jakob's - High damage, fire as fast as you can pull the trigger (you can unload these faster than many of the auto guns), never elemental
Maliwan - always elemental
Torgue - Explosive ammo
Tediore - gun turns into a grenade when you reload it
Vladof - high rate of fire, rate of fire increases the longer you hold the trigger down

Then there are the elements:
Shock
Fire
Corrosive
Slag

And then there is is the Eridium tech guns

That is true. And even with all that, it’s no different from the weapon system in Diablo, such as the angry axe of shocking, or the sharp sword of poison, or something like that.
I have to say though, the weapons are a lot more varied than in borderlands 2 thanks to those manufacturer traits, and the purple and orange class of weapons certainly look unique.
But still, the claim of 87 bajillion weapons is a bit of a lie. Not saying its a bad game, just that its a bit of a weak thing to boast about, really.

You're upset that a game franchise which is known for its over the top shenanigans is overstating a number of available weapons? Do you know how many weapons I pass on simply because I can't carry them all? Hell, I had a Bandit gun that looked like it was 1 gun... attached to another gun..

Remember, this is the game series that gave us 9 toes (who also has 3 balls), and Boom Bewm... AND a Badass Nomad with 3 midgets strapped to his shield...

This right here. I'm not playing this game because it may or may not have 87 bajillion guns, or that they might all work slightly different. I'm playing this game to laugh my ass off at the dialogue and see all the amusing character concepts they came up with in their absurd post-apocalyptic-but-not-really-apocalyptic-mad-max-style-insanity world.

I will be satisfied with the game if it includes Scooter anywhere. I need more "smokin' jesus titty cinnamon" in my life.

Also had trouble with 'mad mike'. Purely because he was too far away to decoy. He still died to my bandit shotgun of doom though.

Was having a satisfying time using a hyperion pistol against lower leveled guys, seeing all the 'critical's flash up is quite enjoyable. Shame i am simply too fragile to use it all the time.

The side mission with the AI core was also pretty funny.

Which quest? I don't recall seeing that effect on the wiki.
Also, a bit of a spoiler here, but

Spoiler:
Why didn't roland just use a new-u machine after getting shot? I mean, he used it before in Borderlands 1 (assumingly)

Huh, that does make sense. Still, some more info would be nice.
They should make a DLC or something that explains how its possible for someone to die if there are new you machines around.
Oh course, it will have to involve shenanigans. Like clone armies of main characters who have died (permanently) in the game.
Can you imagine fighting an Army of Rolands? That would be weird.

I thought everyone got scanned? I mean, it is a fairly easy process.
Then again, you do need money for the process to work. Does the Sheriff respawn after you kill her?

Don't you see? He died in a dramatically appropriate fashion during a cutscene! There's no coming back after that!

I loved that they actually made a joke about Jack never being able to kill you permanently - there's a sidequest in Eridium Blight where Jack tells you to go kill yourself by jumping off a cliff. If you do it, you just respawn, finish the quest, and collect a couple of Eridium from him.

The Siren is absolutely disgusting in this game. I heard somewhere that the internet was considering her the weakest character...how?! She can trap bosses and walk up to them and shotgun them in the face, without repercussion, all the while doing flaming (and later poison/electric) damage to them from the bubble. Yeah...weak character my ass...

I also found an orange pistol with her that's worth $2500-3000 at level 20, that has a high zoom and poison damage as well as its normal 195x2 damage. Did I mention it had a magazine of 195? Yeah, no need to reload THAT...Oh, and I FOUND that, it wasn't a hack. Also, very fast firing rate.
