The dollar amount might be dependent, meaning your budget for a year might already be $1200. But then you are getting 20% fewer models for the money.

Just because you can afford the price hike doesn't mean it doesn't affect you.

No one is ok with getting less product for more money at the same quality that it was when it was cheaper. It goes against human nature.

Very true. The only thing I consider to be "must have" outside of the release is the Heldrake. The fiends are unimpressive models and only worth purchasing if they are excellent on the TT. I've always preferred converting Obliterators, the same is true for Mutilators now.

Are there any other 25mm characters at this price point, because it seems ridiculous.

codex is very costly...

That battleforce seems a little pricey. Theres also a one-click lauch bundle, which is a novel idea.
The bundle is here : http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440206a&prodId=prod1740031a

Thank god you live in Britain, here in Australia that Battleforce boxset is 39 British Pounds more expensive.

Seriously, is spending 1200 instead of 1000 that much of an increase for a hobby? It's expensive as hell to begin with.

20% is a huge mark up on anything.

Chicken feed, in Australia it is 87.5% mark up of what you pay, get over it.

What a massive ripoff. Thousand sons, well you have to buy chaos space marine box, then you have to buy upgrade pack, yea fun times

But wait theres more! Noise marines: Yea so buy those space marines box, then the upgrade pack, then the weapons pack. $30 in upgrades for one squad, plus the cost of the box set.

But wait, theres EVEN MORE!!! Hardback only, $17 more than the paperback version!

Who wants my CSM army? I have been trying to sell for a while now so this should make it easier at least.

EDIT: not to mention the new models are absolutely awful, all of them but the hellbrute. They are way overdesigned and have an over busy look to them, all small useless details and no real substance to the design. I have loved the last 3 or 4 releases and dont get this one at all.

Victory is not the most important outcome. Enjoyment and excitement is the best outcome, victory is sweeter when it was fun.

Somewhere... Out there...

In all honestly, I will be saying "PASS" on buying anything new for my CSM army. Will these prices, I simply cannot justify buying this stuff...

GW might have just priced itself out of my gaming world. Maybe I will go back to WARMACHINE...

I really wish Aussies would stop complaining about prices. We get it, you play an insane additional cost. This is not news.

Fixed that for you. The only reason an Aussie pays more is because they don't bother to try and pay less.

So. The battleforce is notably lacking the berserkers, but they think that bikers somehow make up for that, and the five random marines? This is just robbery:
Rhino:35
Possessed:25
Marines: 35
Bikers:45
= 140
You only save about 20 bucks, unless I'm missing something. I really hope bikers aren't total crap, because I'm going to be taking them regardless

Because its not like there is some sort of embargo stopping overseas seller shipping gw over here.

Back on topic, I am glad to see the single plastic characters finally hitting the 40k seen and look forward to some being relaeased for my armies in the future. The dragon and feinds look much better with some proper photos, I might be tempted to start some chaos, but will wait a bit first to see what else is released in the second wave.

With those prices it makes me glad I have no desire to play either Chaos or Dark Angels (you know the $50 codex and other pricey models are coming for them as well). I'll stick with my Necrons and Space Wolves, thank you very much.

Because there aren't tons of friendly chaps here in the US who are willing to buy GW plastics at 30% off US retail and ship them to people in AUS.

Sure it's not as convenient as ordering from a web store, but it's still an option.

Island of Blood retails in Australia for $165 AUD, which is $172US. I can buy them all day every day for $70US which is only $67AUD + $6US shipping to my house. So unless the cost of me shipping you a single IoB box is $100AUD, you'd save money.

Now of course, it takes larger orders to make it worth the effort, but if any Aussie Dakka member wanted to do this I'd help them with it.

So any order of let's say $300 US msrp (about $500 AUD) becomes feasible for me to do. And what you would pay for that $500 AUD msrp would actually be $200AUD. So there's that.

My point is, sure it might be a hassle, but that hassle is well worth the money saved, especially when doing large orders. And I can guarantee that the $500msrp order wouldn't cost $300AUD to ship from here in California.

rainbow dashing to your side

this isn’t the first time I've let out a sigh and put my wallet away after seeing a new wave of mini's from GW -.-'

really these are just terrible, those daemon engines look like robotic sloths with guns for arms and that dragon....oh god the dragon, still I suppose every 13 year old will be wetting themselves over it and screeching about how cool it looks :/

the maulers are just so, so bad I'm finding it hard to bring myself to even look at them, it's like a child went nuts with an oblit, the spawn kit and some GS

the upgrade packs are a fething joke and I'm just happy I got my metal sonics before they became finecast

the sorc looks like a lazy conversion and the spiky tech marine, while very pretty, will be a pain in the arse to work with in finecast, same goes for the preacher which is a shame as I quite like those two

the raptors are very pretty indeed but I have no use for them. the phrase "staggeringly dynamic poses" made me laugh as all I see is the dynamic entry, this way to the beach, hugz, moar hugs and the thriller poses :/

the plastic chosen is useless and would have been much better replacing one of the bolter twins in the DV box

so yeah, chaos might be playable now and that’s it....wooo

maybe I'll go drop an extra £20 on a codex with a silly cover, a letter saying how much money I spent and a ribbon so I don’t lose my place

At a Place, Making Dolls Great Again

good god 60 dollars for a codex, i remember when the hard cover rule book was 75
which is why i never owned one
I mean if this is the stunning awesomeness that the massive 3rd ed one was (abit only 30 back then, when most codex's were 20 and the mini marine ones were 15)

there's expensive and then there's ungodly expensive
the hobby was always expensive, now its ungodly so

and don't go yammering on how GW is a business, yes they are a business and as a costumer if I am gonna shell out 60 dollars for a book, I sort of want something worth my money, at least a little bit. and taking in GW's track record for crappily made codex's... I don't see that as a reality.
90 dollars for a flyer?!
and hey the starter set is up to 120 like it was in 3rd ed...though in 3rd ed you got the full rulebook with it, not a tiny one

Warpsmith and Apostle in Finecast:(...
no go for me, as much as i like the minis...
too bad they can't use a harder resin...

i really like the Mauler, especially in those Iron Warriors colors...

the new Raptors seem like the best of the lot here...
loads of bits, and plastic jump troops (as much as i love metal, the old Raptors always felt like an accident waiting to happen on small bases)...
grab these guys on a discount, and be stoked...

i quite like the Asp. Champ. model...
nice to see single sprue plastics...
being over $5 more than the WFB minis, makes him another discount retail purchase...

i'm might have to go with the digital codex here...
i love my iPad and it's huge library of novels...
i'm just not sure if i will enjoy a digital codex as much as I like the paper version...
this will be my trial run, but I have a feeling I will prefer the large format of a paper codex better...
i really like the photo features of the Space Marine iPad Codex samples...
it's definitely a lot more interactive than my ebooks and ezines...

cheers

The Warpsmith seems a bit pricey, but he's a chaos techmarine. You can bet I'm buying one.
