Testing out how to post here, along with showing my work.
I think I've only started to hit my stride recently with my biker-knight conversion, but I still have a ton of room for improvement- I'm still sorting out a lot of technical issues and I learn more with every model. These are absolutely the first models I've put paint onto. I have plenty more to work on! Nervous to put these up here, but my brother who has way more experience with 40k than me, says they're decent for a first start. They're in no particular order, just my favorites so far towards the top.

Drill the gunbarrels... other than that good job!

I love the strong colours on the biker champ!

Edit: Thanks 4oursword- I know I'm a total amateur, but I'm starting to figure it out bit by bit. I've never used acrylics before successfully- I'm a watercolor painter by trade. I do like how matte and thin bodied model paints seem to be though.

Do not use a power tool, just buy a simple hand drill, they are not that expensive (dont imagine more than 10 bucks). Plastic is bland, you dont need a power tool for it.

Get one like this for instance:

and the corresponding tip you need, about 1mm or less in diameter, all together should come to less than 10 bucks, since you are working on plastics, get the cheapest you can find, quality will not be an issue.

Dude, that's very helpful- thank you! Had no idea. When I first thought about doing this stuff years ago I looked at someone using power tools in their tutorial and I never considered looking up any other way to do it.

Don't be worried to put these up they are great. For the first models you have painted it sure doesn't show. I like the different color scheme you went with. It will be great seeing a whole army painted. Good stuff.

P.S. - Though I must say the second guy down wouldn't be flying the imperial eagles on his banner. It would probably melt his skin....

The color scheme reminds me of the models when I first started playing. All the color schemes were all bold and dramatic. These look good, keep it up and you will have a very unique army.

Haha, yes, I thought about that- hence the skull perhaps? But in all seriousness he's mainly a test guy I got as a gift- I'm not sure if he'll ever see a game board- maybe. Tried out all sorts of stuff on the poor guy, mainly different painting techniques, failed dremel work and simple conversions as I'd never done them before. The little regular space marines he came with are my guinea pigs for greenstuffing, but I hadn't quite worked up the courage for GS when I was working in him a few months ago.

Thanks very much. It's a weird color scheme I know, but as I tend to paint dark subject matter in bright colors, the same thing accidentally happened here on these poor overly colorful chaos guys. i mainly blame the very attractive blue paint that I found. "Unique" huh? Ah well, haha, hope that's a good thing.

You dont even need to buy a hand drill. Just get a small drill bit and do it. Really doesnt take much.

haha... Same here. I only have the drill bit that i use with my fingers to make the gumbarrels. I have a set of different widths so i have the right size for a normal bolter, a pistol or even a heavy bolter. The hobby hand drill will make it easier, but not necessary when working with the plastic models.
