Anyone have an idea for Stormtroopers in a Siege of Vraks Renegade Army?

How about some glued on skulls to their waists, and Blood splatter on their weapons? A uniformed dyed in a blood red color from its original imperial tone would look good too. Don't forget some chaos icons, for undivided or if the ST wants to worship a particular god.

Just don't decide that sticking shurikens on everything is the answer like the Dark Vengeance cultists.

Well, obviously it's going to be tough to do any major work to them if you don't have a dremmel. If you do have a rotary tool, it's still going to be a giant pain in the ass.

Thankfully, stormtroopers already look scarier and more badass than regular guardsmen, so it's not like you need to do a WHOLE lot to make them more chaosey. Take a hobby knife to the two aquillas on the model (helmet and brestplate), and then throw on some spikey bitz, and you'll actually be rather fine without much more.

The paintjob is the most obvious way. Maybe the odd mutation here and there(especially on sergeants) and some chaosy bits.

Paint them so they look dirtier/rusted, possibly add some strange mutations (spikes and/or green stuff if you're feeling up to a bit of work), make them glow, etc.

Depending on whether you're thinking of aligning them with a particular Chaos God that might open new space in the realm of freehand art, Tzeentch lends itself well to things like ominous glowing eyes looking out of armor plates or ghostly fire or things like that.

remember they are just stormtroopers. Don't give them too many mutations, they are just normal humans after all.

Why not? The gods don't care of your origin, they only care that you do their bidding. Make 'em as mutated as you want. Obviously it is convenient to still have them be recognizable.

Add spikes, skulls, and topknots. A surefire way to Chaosify anything.

Forge World makes some interesting kits for Traitor Guard.

Those would be good to kitbash with plastic cadians or catachans. make the chaos bits go farther.

They're conversion kits for Cadians, actually! You can see the Cadian legs down there.

I would probably start from plastic Cadians instead of the metal Kasrkin. Give them big shields from the Warriors of Chaos sprues to justify the 4+ armor and convert up suitably nasty looking guns for them. Alternately, have them mutate on some armor and the like to show that they're favored by the gods.

I just picked up a couple WoC armies for kit bashing - knights for CSM bikes (thanks to another thread around here), marauders for renegades, and looking at the warriors... they might make good stormtroopers thanks to all the plate.

How about DKoK Grenadiers with Chaos Renegade conversion kits? Only problem there is it's all FW, which means £££...

Cadians/Catachans/fantasy WoC marauders + FW Renegade conversions is another option (but they may look too much like 'normal' troops, and not elites).

The new cultists in DV box are also an option, as well as general chaos bits/frames. Throw them into the mix and you've got quite a lot of kitbashing options.

Krieg! What a hole...

Keep in mind Grenadiers are a 4 pieces model. Body/head/legs with 2 arms and the goddamned power cable, you'd have to do a lot of cutting up to change heads and all that, it also seems the Chaos Renegade kit is made to fit Cadian stuff and the Grenadier have a different scale.
