Hook hands last appeal ends in failure.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19855380

Radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza is due to appear in court in New York to face terrorism charges.

He is one of five men who left the UK on two flights, hours after the High Court rejected their final appeals.

It has been confirmed Babar Ahmad and Tahla Ahsan have landed in the US. They will appear before a federal judge in Connecticut in connection with the alleged running of a pro-jihad website.

The home secretary said she was looking to speed up the extradition process.

On Friday judges ruled the five men - Abu Hamza, Mr Ahmad, Mr Ahsan, Adel Abdul Bary and Khaled al-Fawwaz - had not shown "new and compelling" reasons to stay in the UK.

Their decision came after the European Court of Human Rights backed successive UK courts in ruling for the extraditions after a legal process of more than eight years.

The men were on two planes that left a military airbase in Suffolk.

Abu Hamza faces 11 charges in the US relating to hostage taking, conspiracy to establish a militant training camp and calling for holy war in Afghanistan.

His lawyers had argued he was not fit to be deported on health grounds.

He is set to go before a judge within 24 hours of landing and will appear in an open hearing following his arrival at an airport in New York state......

Thank feth he has finally gone. I think there will be a review of why it has taken so long to get him out of the country.

Going through the legal processes takes time, though why it should take so many years is another matter.

Anyway, I wish him joy of his visit to the USA.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

That's a long time to wait for a trial... Same with all those fellas down in Gitmo... Hmm. If only things worked like Phoenix Wright... One day of evidence gathering, and a trial the next day after that.

He will be solitary so he will have to settle for his own hook. Why this took 8 years is beyond me.

Didn't you hear? Solitary confinement is inhuman. We HAVE to let him out into the general population... you know of a federal penitentiary.

This is nothing to celebrate, it took eight years.

You should get two appeals, and then you get your balls nailed to a telephone book. Only take 30 days.

The fact that economic jihad is a docmented tactic, means we need to get tougher. This mother fether has cost us millions.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

Inhumane for guys named Bradley as well from what I understand.

Gotta agree with Matty though, our legal system (and apparently the U.K.'s) can have SERIOUS issues with appeals. I'm a big fan of a fair trial and I believe even the worst possible scumbag has the right to prove he's innocent of the charges brought against him but bloody hell there needs to be a limit.

Completely agree. The fact that lawyers deliberately spin things like this out makes a mockery of due process. Of course there will always be some expense and some time involved, but it shouldn't have taken half of what it did.

I wouldn't be against something like say this: You get your trial. Bam guilty. You appeal, a second court finds you guilty. Go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200 dollars. For more serious punishments and especially death penalty cases the case then goes into a Judicial Review Queue where a couple lawyers who have not been connected to the case tear through both trials for ANY possible failure of legal procedure, bias, etc. If it they find something, re-trial, if it's clear carry on. Increases efficiency while keeping everything as fair and just as humanely possible.

Only place it could drag out is if you're found guilty, then found not guilty or vice versa as the Government can and does appeal criminal cases.

I'm sure he'll receive a completely fair trial and definitely won't end up in an offshore concentration camp being waterboarded to within an inch of his life. Of that I am certain.

What I want to know is why if he preaches a belife in sacrificing ones life for the greater will of his god. Why is he fighting to stay out of a country that has no problem putting him to death for his actions? Seems to me his "Faith" isnt as strong as he says.

As he's not British or from an EU country he should of been deported or extradited straight away. The human rights he was demanding are non existent in his country, so how come they apply to him when he's over here? Same with the other one that they want to send back to Jordan. They aren't British or EU nationals so tough whatsits, back you go. Don't care if they lock you away in a pit or torture you, you don't come to our country and break the law. If you're that dedicated to the cause then have the b***s to stay put. Just shows what a total load of "b******s" these fanatics preach. I bet they stir up the young men to strap bombs to them, but don't do any of it themselves, it's almost like a Blackadder sketch!!

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.
