I'm happy to announce the first Paulson Games design a part contest.
Do you have ideas for parts you'd like to see?
Do you like scratchbuilding unique parts for your minis?
If so then this is the contest for you. I have two contest options avaialble:
Concept Part - submit your own cool image (drawing, digital art, etc) of a part you'd like to see and if it's chosen I'll make a part based on the design and do a limited production run of them. You'll recieve multiple copies of the part, $25 in cash, and an additional $50 store credit.
Scratch Built Part - submit pictures of a cool part that you built yourself and if it's chosen I'll make a limited production run of that part. (you wouldn't need to send in anything in unless it's chosen as the winner) The original scratchbuilt part will be returned after molding Like the concept part winner you'll recieve multiple copies of the part. $100 in cash, and an additional $150 in store credit.
The limited runs of parts will likely consist of 100-200 copies of the part/sprue. (a more final number will be determined by size of the parts)
There's no set category of specific parts, it can be helmets, head swaps, rifles, backpacks etc. Winner will be picked by me, although feedback from this thread and comments on the Paulson Games facebook page will be taken into consideration as well. If I get a bunch of really great entries I may decide to announce more than one winner, in the case of multple winners each person will recieve the full prize for that option.
I'll be accepting entries until Oct 31st at which point I'll place all entries up for public viewing and announce winners on Nov 2nd.
What I won't accept: Parts visably converted from other ranges. For example if you have a Inifinity rifle that has a sniper scope added to it then I wouldn't be able to use it even if the scope is 100% your scratchbuilt creation. I could use the scope itself but I cannot accept it if it's mounted on the rifle. Make sense?
The part must be on it's own and not mounted on any other line of models
If you use a model or sculpting dolly as a base to work from and the original detail is completely unreconizeable then it's something I will make a judgement call on.
Additionally I cannot accept any sumbissons using parts that display logos or iconry from other ranges, so no double headed eagles, no batman symbols, etc. Likewise I cannot accept any entries that share a name with an exsisting product range, so nothing named "green lantern power rings" for example.
To submit an entry you can post them in this thread or send any pictures to PaulsonGames (at) hotmail.com with a message title of: "Parts Challenge - Concept part" or "Parts Challenge - Scratch Build"
If you have any questions just fire away.

Are you looking for just one part or can it be several interconnected and related parts used to build a conversion?

Submissions can be multi part objects. While it's not required, people can submit a sprue of parts if they wish.
Foda that cannon looks great

Here's my contribution (The frontend. The backend is a little problematic, but I can fix that).

I'm guessing you didn't actually read the rules?
As for the contest, PLEASE do this every few months. It is an excellent idea, and the community benefits greatly from it. This will actually motivate me to bother scratch building things in the hopes of having them go to production(so many things I need that don't currently exist as bits).

it clearly doesn't have to be a complete model, it can be one or more conversion parts. I don't see anything objectionable on that front part, do you? he indicates himself he could modify the rear (probably at least removing the eagle from the bag - even though that eagle design is IMO not actually something GW could ever enforce a trademark or copyright claim on).

I don't see anything wrong with casting the parts you scratch built and having them as conversion parts for the bike, looks like a lot of thought went into that design thirdeye, great work! Kinda reminds me of the old epic bikes no I come to think of it. Hmm, many uses for this,,,

Except for this little bit: The part must be on it's own and not mounted on any other line of models If he showed JUST the pieces he made then it would qualify. As it stands, the pieces are shown mounted on GW parts. Also there is the fact that the pic shows recast parts, which is a no no here on Dakka.

Good to hear. I'll submit something for the concept art contest.

Here's the parts by themselves. Some naughty bits in there but they're not necessary for the build. Understand, this pic and the one above are over ten years old. I made the parts for my personal use a long time ago. Still have the originals.

This would be correct.
The reasoning behind this is that if it's shown on or in combination with models from another range, then an arguement can be made that it's designed or derived for that specific range.
The tank gun posted earlier in the thread is also shown on a GW body which is potentially a problem as well. I like the designs but I cannot accept stuff shown on GW models (or other ranges)

GW will probably sue anyway since they do that now. And if they don't, Apple might. /joke So standalone parts are what you are aiming for then? or are conversion kits acceptable provided they are shown as just the kit.

Stand alone parts are ideal.
Conversion parts are fine as long as they are shown by themself and do not include any other models in the pcitures.

Have you guys considered making some 54mm battle armor to compliment your line of 54mm mecha parts? I mean, rather than do something clunky and boxy, something a bit more sleek? I'd offer up concept art if I could draw or scratchbuilds if I had talent. Instead, though, I can only say that even though I'm not a fan of anime, some well made anime battle armor, rather than just conversion bits for other manufacturer's battle armor, would almost certainly sell like hotcakes.

I think noneoftheabove0 is onto something. I think the armor is a good idea. I would like to see a slick shoulder mounted missile system, gun turret, and a 5 shot sci-fi ish weapon to take the place of say a cyclic ion blaster. Mech arm shields would be cool too along the lines of patlabor. I'm by no means an artist but I've seen plenty of inspirational ideas on 3drt that I try and incorporate into my Tau. I'm sure whatever you come up with it be outstanding. Looking forward to seeing those 54mm rifles you are getting done.

Ok so this is a fantastic kit and I would most definitely like to see this up for sale.
