With the release of the new CSM codex, or with the new Horus Heresy books, I'm looking at either revamping my old army or simply starting up a new Heresy era army.

Each of these armies would have in common... obviously... lots of death and whatnot. When browsing around for resin bases that would fit the scheme I had in mind, I happened across these little beauties from Secret Weapon Miniatures:

These bases are conveniently designed with a little lip, so that models can be standing boot-deep in whatever gruesomeness you want. I'd like to fill it with blood.

Now, my question to you all is this: how the hell do I do it?

The only thing I can come up with off the top of my head is to use something similar to the "water effect" that GW sells mixed with a red paint. Would this work or should I try something else?

  Thanks in advance!

In my defense, I have tried googling, however I'm currently in Afghanistan and the internet is... iffy, to say the least.

Google has sadly not worked for me for the past week, yet random websites still work.

I'll check out the Tamiya Red though on a day where it takes less that 15 minutes to load a google search, thankya

Here are some tutorials I googled for you to save you the trouble.

 Painting Blood

  http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.ca/2010/05/tutorial-how-to-paint-blood.html
 http://www.bushido-thegame.com/articles/painting-gore-tutorial

 Dripping blood

  http://chestofcolors.com/something-about-painting-blood/
 http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.ca/2009/10/tutorial-making-ugly-strings-and-stuff.html

These are some of my favourite tutorials, and work amazingly well, Tamiya Clear Red is a godsend when doing blood.

Hope these help, and be sure to show us some updates when you're done

 Heres another.
Basically grab some of that red, apply it neat to anywhere you want fairly light blood, anything sticking out the puddle but still bloody.
Mix some black into it to give more depth to the puddle itself.
You could probably try mixing some pva in there to bulk it up a bit.

Essentially what Boc seems to want is for his guys to be standing in deep "pool" of blood, not have weapons etc. coated with it like those links provide. The most immediate question about using the liquid effect would be will the bones and such still be seen?

I think itd work fine with the clear red and pva.
If youre feeling flush you could mix it with one of the water effect products out there. checkout thus tut on green puddles http://therollinwaaagh.blogspot.co.uk/2008/12/quick-tip-2-toxic-sludge-water-effects.html

 just swap the colours

Hey dude, just use water effects and add paint i found it worked well, check out my Deamon prince in my galleys and see what you think. Im currently doing a World Eaters army and all the bases are going to have a pool of blood on them.

On a side note i love them bases and am shamelessly going to copy you're idea lol.
