Going for fluffy but effective here, 2000 points of Black Legion. No Cult Troops. This is essentially Abaddon's personal retinue, with some cultist "fanboys" used to screen for them.

UNIT & OPTIONS
(HQ) Abbadon the Despoiler - Warlord
(HQ)"Zaraphiston" the Sorcerer w/ Aura of Dark Glory, Mastery Level 3, Mark of Tzeentch
(Troops) Chosen w/ +1 Chosen, Power Weapon Champion with Plasma Pistol, 1 pair Lightning claws, 1 Power Fist, 2 Power Weapons, Mark of Khorne, Icon of Wrath, Veterans of the Long War
(Troops) Chosen w/ +1 Chosen, Power Weapon Champion with Plasma Pistol, 1 pair Lightning claws, 1 Power Fist, 2 Power Weapons, Mark of Khorne, Icon of Wrath, Veterans of the Long War
(Troops) Chaos Space Marines with +5 CSM, 2 Plasmaguns, Veterans of the Long War, Champ has PW
(Troops) Chaos Space Marines with +5 CSM, 2 Meltaguns, Veterans of the Long War, Extra CCWs, Champ has PW
(Troops) Chaos Cultists with Autoguns, 20 Man, 2 H. Stubbers, leader has Shotgun
(Troops) Chaos Cultists with CCWs/Pistols, 20 man, 2 Flamers
(Elite) Hellbrute w/ Multimelta
(Elite) Hellbrute w/ TL Lascannon
(Fast Attack) Hell Drake (Thinking of going with the Hades Autocannon to give one extra weapon against fliers, since this is my only real AA unit in the list)
Total- 1999

I was thinking of dropping one of the Hellbrutes for a squad of Havocs with Autocannons, but I thought it would be better to run 2 of them on the board so 1 doesn't just go poof after one turn of shooting. C & C welcome, just keep in mind I am trying to keep a fluffy Black Legion list.

EDIT:
Version 2 of the list, after refinement and feedback:

(HQ) Abbadon the Despoiler - Warlord
(Troops) Chosen w/ +2 Chosen, 2 Power Weapons, 1 Pair LCs, 1 Power Fist, Mark of Khorne, Veterans, Power Weapon Champion with Plasma Pistol
(Troops) Chosen w/ +2 Chosen, 2 Power Weapons, 1 Pair LCs, 1 Power Fist, Mark of Khorne, Veterans, Power Weapon Champion with Plasma Pistol
(Troops) Chaos Space Marines with +5 CSM, 2 Plasmaguns, Veterans, Champ has PW
(Troops) Chaos Space Marines with +5 CSM, 2 Meltaguns, Veterans, Extra CCWs x9, Champ has PW
(Troops) Chaos Cultists with CCWs/Pistols, 20 man, 1 Flamer, mark of Nurgle, Leader has Shotgun
(Elite) Hellbrute w/ Multimelta
(Elite) Hellbrute w/ TL Lascannon
(Fast Attack) Hell Drake w/ Baleflamer
(Heavy Support) 2 Obliterators with Mark of Nurgle, Veterans
(Heavy Support) Havocs w/ Autocannons x4, Mark of Nurgle, Veterans

Looks good, Where are you gonna run your sorc and aba? Id put aba in witht he cc cultists and run them in the front.

I dont think its that no-one likes aba+ chosen but there so point heavy that theres less room to play with the list without sayign take out aba and do something completely diffnt.

I think chosen are generally overpriced but maybe not if there troops with aba.

I like your csm troop loarouts- 2 meltas and 2 plasmas.

Have you thought about marking your troop choices? Even just nurgle to keep em standing up longer but then your sorc cant run with them.

Id think about culling one of the troops squads and replacing it with a havock squad either: missile launcher/autocannons or 2xmelta,2xplasma. (id cull the stubber cultists)

Youll struggle against shootie lists unless there is plenty of terrain to los with.

You havent been blacklisted, its a new codex everyones coming up with new lists and experimenting with new units. Itll take a while before people will work out how they feel about the dex.

You bring up some good points... There is some contention whether or not Abaddon can join marked units... there's a thread over in YMDC about it but they can't seem to come to a consensus either. I sent a email to GW's gamefaqs department to try and get a ruling that will last until the FAQ comes out. But I had intended on putting him with a chosen group for a blender-of-death. The sorcerer I plan to stick with the Plasma CSM, but I guess it ultimately depends on the powers I roll for him.

I agree the chosen are points heavy... I probably ought to drop the icons to save some points. I also have been considering dropping the stubber cultists to put in a unit of Obliterators. Havocs could work too, but I am in the beginning stages of kitbashing them so I don't know what loadout they'll have yet. Would like Autocannons but those are harder for me to scrounge up. I'll probably just go with a unit of obliterators for adaptability.

As for having terrain to hide behind: We play with a lot of ruined-city boards, so there is usually a lot of terrain to cover the advance.

The Pair of Lightning Claws Chosen Model is cool, but for 30 points, kinda overly expensive IMO. Then again, the fact 4 of them can carry Powerfists and Meltaguns is just kinda awesomely silly (mix and match what you will).

I think it looks fun, footslogging lists seem the way to go. Although, looking at the vehicle upgrades I am eyeing the Destroyer Blades for a Rhino Rush ... Or Landraider what have you. Nice you can finally hurt models on tank shock.

Battle Barge Impossible Fortress

I know why you're running autoguns on cultists (i do it to), but after a few games I'd suggest dropping the autoguns completely.

After seeing my Helldrake Vector Strike drop pods and other units I couldn't otherwise touch (while killing 5 space marines each time it shot today) I have to recommend the Baleflamer.

The Baleflamer provides CSM with something that they can't otherwise get.

The rest of your list has stuff that can do the same thing a Hades can, but better even if its at shorter range... i.e. special weapons and CC stuff.

Regarding the Sorcerer, Mark of Tzeentch is a waste unless you want to keep to a theme. Having to roll on Tzeentch is meh. Go all Telepathy! >: ) Just remember that you might roll bogus and get all Witchfires, and wouldn't be able to use them all.. Sometimes Level 3 is not as good as it seems.

(Elite) Hellbrute w/ Multimelta
(Elite) Hellbrute w/ TL Lascannon
(Fast Attack) Hell Drake w/ Baleflamer
(Heavy Support) 2 Obliterators with Mark of Nurgle, Veterans
(Heavy Support) Havocs w/ Autocannons x4, Mark of Nurgle, Veterans

Summary of Changes:

I dropped the icons from the Chosen, but kept their loadouts the same. I want them to be adaptable to a variety of assault situations. I also dropped the lousy shooting cultists... the points were better spent elsewhere. Next, I dropped the sorcerer. He was kind of shoe-horned in anyway. Once I had some points to work with, I added a pair of nurgle-marked oblits, the havoc squad, and a mark of Nurgle to the cultists. Hopefully these changes will add some much-needed Dakka to my list

The Hellbrutes are interesting as since they're elites, they don't compete with the Forgefiend for Long Range Support. I would personally find room to give the Hellbrutes the Power Scourge, going at initiative and reducing the opponent's WS seems really good. that, and maybe an Auto Cannon or Plasma Cannon, all these upgrades come in quiet cheap at 5-10 points apiece. I'm just remembering how boring the Multi-Melta Dreadnaughts in vanilla marines got.

I support the Baleflamer, I feel there's much room for it's effectiveness in this edition. Also, the 2nd hq is often best removed for more troops, or something more valuable in any case.

Lots of footslogging lists now (I run one, too), interesting development. just an idea, as you're using Abaddon with Chosen ... I'm still thinking 2 Rhinos with Destroyer Blades for some shooty Plasma/Melta Chosen/Havoc squads would be good for any army, to get them up close and personal, draw fire from the sloggers, and give them cover. For one 10 Man squad with 5 Plasma Guns, 1 combi Plasma on the Champion, and some bodies to soak wounds equals lots of owie on any army, for 315 pts (with the Rhino). Ok, kinda expensive, but still pretty rockin.

Although you may think the standard multi-melta Hellbrutes might get boring, they definitely serve a particular role in my list, as they will be the heavy anti-armor units. S10 powerfists and multimeltas/lascannons should take care of any heavy armor my list encounters, as long as I am not drowning in Leman Russ spam

The lack of sufficient AA aside (you seem to be already working on that), I'm curious, how are those Chosen are meant to make it into assault?

I'm liking the inclusion of the new chaos units. It would make sense to put at least one daemon prince as an HQ, since you only have 1 HQ which is disappointing in 2000 points plus daemon princes are EPIC!

Their EPIC nature has changed in the new codex ... I would have to disagree and say there's not much room in this list for a DP. I'm very not sure what he would add to the list, other than a fire magnet besides the chosen.

Use of cover, and use of cultist screens was my plan. My group likes terrain-dense boards, and I thought it would be a good time to take advantage of that. As for the AA... might eke some points to make the Havocs have missile launchers with Flakk missiles in the future, but I don't have

As evildrspock said, DPs are wicked expensive now for something that can be instant-gibbed by a random Demolisher or Hellbrute Power fist. I'd rather spend the points in a couple dakka units I know will work, rather than an all-or-nothing HQ.

Looks like no dps in lists less than 2500 ish. They can be wicked- theres a coupla cool ideas banging around using their new stat line, black mace or biomancy trees. Also they dont get champ of chaos so no boons and no eternal warrior. At 250 points (for something thats pretty bare) dont expect to c them out in smaller games. And in the larger games... really how hard is it to do 4 t5 3+ wounds anyway...
