one reason parents shouldn't have too much influence on their kids is Beck, he doesn't seem like a scientologist, yet.............

Not really. It is fairly objective to recognize he is talented. Not liking his work is different then not recognizing that is capable.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Having seen him live an a couple of occasions, and speaking as a musicologist, I can confirm that Beck Hansen is indeed talented. He is able to rap, sing and play instruments in a dizzying array of styles.

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

Okay, so the male version of "Cougar" is now officially "Albatross".

Beck is great. Jeff Beck isn't though. I don't think Scientology matters much.

My cousin, who's always been a step above mainstream, loves him. As long as I can remember, since she was at least 14 (she's 26 now), she's always been madly anti-conformist and edgy. She pulls it off in a way that doesn't seem hipsterish or snobby. I envy her.

I love Beck, he's one of my favorite performers and has a very wide range of talents. However, I feel that the reason why his rap is so well liked is that it is unique, and (at least during his early days) was considered quite bad (that's actually how Loser got it's chorus, but that's a wholly different story). I've always felt that his music has had a quirky quality to it, even his serious songs have playful tones hidden away in themselves.

Beck's music is why my style of guitar playing and vocals are the way they are. He was kinda my door into actually playing alt-rock, and it just stuck as my style. Goofy rhythm and wacky antics are my bread and butter

he is a damn good story teller

and some of his songs make you wonder what he has seen

this sounds like something a follower of Nurgle might sing in the trenches

Cold brains,
Unmoved,
Untouched,
Unglued
Alone at last
No thoughts,
No mind
To rot
Behind
A trail of disasters
A final curse
Abandoned hearse
We ride disowned
Corroded to the bone
The fields of green
Are bent, obscene
I lay upon the gravel
A worm of hope
A hangman's rope
Pulls me one way or the other
A final curse
Abandoned hearse
We write this song
Corroded to the bone
A bird of song
Is heard no longer
In the evacuated heavens
The drain is drawn
And drained and gone
And on and on, it doesn't matter
A final curse
Abandoned hearse
We ride this old
Corroded to the bone
