I've seen multiple threads asking about how tall Marines are, and even occasionally threads on the height of Orks, but never one on the height of the Eldar.
I've seen references to Eldar height in some sources, all of them being "taller than humans," but nothing specific, their height in meters or feet never made explicit. The reason I make this inquiry is that I am about to start a Dark Heresy campaign (Playing an Imperial Psyker, I hope I get the party eaten by Daemons : D) which will feature Eldar in places, and I have trouble imagining what an Eldar would look like in the presence of my character, and I don't find miniatures particularly reliable (Abaddon for example is a midget).
So Dakka, how tall is the average Eldar? Any sources would be appreciated.

They are usually described as tall and lithe, moreso than humans anyway. I´d say it´d vary just like with humans so anywhere from 1.5m - 2ishm and you shouldn´t go far wrong.

Maybe 6.5-7 feet. Around the same height of a Space Marine.

That would have been about my estimate as well, I personally envision them averaging about 6'6".
The impression I am getting from the few posts in this thread is that there is no official (gak I'd even take Black Library) statement.

Average Eldar males should be as tall as a Space Marine. The females about the same height as taller Human males.
|
I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

Eldar as described in the fluff tend to be as tall as the tallest humans at the shortest.

So 8'11" is the shortest any Eldar can get?
I find that hard to believe lol.
Eldar don't tower over Marines.
Granted, I may be taking a statement like that too literally.

6'6"ish figure makes the most sense. Know someone who's 6'6", tall enough that you notice "damn he's tall", but not ridiculous.
Marines are definetly bigger.

Yeah, a coworker of mine is 6'6", and even though he really only like a "mere" eight inches of height on me, from my point of view he looks noticeably taller. 6'6" is about where I personally picture the average Eldar standing. I was just interested in what the fluff had to say.

GW tends to only ever speak in vague generalities. You'll never get a solid answer on anything fluff related untill the company realizes they could make bank on a book containing specific information.

What about a FFG RPG book?
They gave specific numbers for the dimensions of Marines, have they for Eldar?

6'6" is approximately 2m, which is what they say Marine height is only just over. The typical Marine wallscroll was shown to be 7' tall armoured, so they would only be somewhat taller.

The average Astartes is eight feet tall, sooo Eldar and Dark Eldar are essentially spaces elves. They are described as being taller than the average human. The average male height in the United States is 5 feet 9 inches and the average female height is 5 feet four inches. Based on that I would I imagine them to be between 6 and 7 feet depending on gender. Keep in mind that Space Marines are super bulky and are going seem much larger when compared to the slender, lightly armored Eldar.

From what I remember (Assuming the average human is about 5.5ft to 6ft tall, give or take) almost or a little over 7ft, give or take. I honestly would not be surprised if an eldar was as tall as a marine. obviously not as bulky.

Deadly Dark Eldar Warrior
|
I can't remember where I read it but if I recall correctly they are right around the 7' mark in they are male and around 6' 8" for females. When you think that makes sense since by the year 40,000 the average human would be right around 6' to 6' 4", while that doesn't sound right given the time spawn and some may argue that how can the be right since humans have grown about 9" in the past 100 years, it's like any population, there is a sustainability cap where the human figure simply will generalize to a point where food production can keep up with the ever growing population, therefore making neo-Malthis's incorrect and it simply wouldn't happen in the future. If the human population would have this problem it's only reasonable to assume the same would hold true for other races. And with eldar having a longer growing time to evolve, far longer then humans it would only be reasonable to assume they would be taller. Also if you read path of the Warrior and several other books on eldar you figure out that eldar don't have dietary needs anywhere near ours. They require far less and this is just one of the reasons they consider themselves superior and makes them superior.

Humans are on average better fed today than they were 100 or so years ago. That's why they're getting taller.
If the starving situation on those worlds in the Imperium are anything to go by, man would have got shorter so a 6'6" Space Marine looks like a towering giant.

No kidding. After I went to an anthropology museum once, I learned that what would be considered as merely tall for our time would have been considered gigantic during the Middle Ages.

In the horus heresy fulgrim book, when fulgrim sits down to eat with eldrad uthran, solomon demeter says they are tall but still much shorter than space marines. Space marines in the horus heresy are 10 feet so I'd imagine they were 8 or 9 feet. other sources say space marines are 8 feet so I'd imagine the eldar would be 7 by this reckoning.

From what I know, the average eldar is taller than your average human by a head (so about 30 centimeters or a feet if you prefer). That would make them around 7 foot tall. The fact that they are usually lithe can make them look even taller but that would be an illusion. Also, like Tolkien elves on witch they are based (and named), eldar don't seems do have strong gender dismorphism like humans. Male and female of their race have the same average size (in fact it was implied in the prievious dark eldar codex that female were in average physically more fit then males).

This thread was last posted in two years ago, you should not dig up threads that are so old.
In addition, HH era marines are not 10 feet. Neither are they 8 feet really.
But Eldar being shorter than SM and taller than humans seems like a reasonable notion.
