Kill, Maim, Burn?

No seriously though I think a lot of people are still trying to find the combos. Once shiny syndrome wears off I think a few things will stand out above the rest.

Personally I'm already liking Havocs with nothing but Autocannons. Dirt cheap and pump out a metric ton of S7 shots, especially if one unit is given charge of a quad gun.

Yeah, right now it's called try out the new units, and see what works. I think Forgefiends are here to stay, and Demon Princes have stepped down from the auto-take in every army. Regular CSM squads are still pretty awesome, I wanna see a Rhino Rush army with Destroyer Blades for tank shock fun, with Havoc/Chosen Plasma Squads to make the enemy cry.

Autocannon Havoc Squads are awesomely inexpensive ... 115 points for 4 Autocannons! Obliterators are still awesome, Predators are suprisingly inexpensive too. 1 squad of cultists might be a good buy for camping on an objective, fill with extra bodies as needed.

Demon Allies are lots of fun for a 1 god-themed army, too. I'm loving my World Eaters CSM w/ Khorne Demons allies so far.

Chaos Marines, Bikes, Sorcerers, Chaos Lords and Spawn are all ridiculously cheap for what they do.

You could feasably field 15 Nurgle Spawn and 60 Chaos Marines in 1750 and you have 105 wounds, 45 of which are T6 the rest are T4 in Power Armour add special weapons and HQ to taste. *shrugs*

Very good synergy with allies, heldrakes with pavane of slaanesh (you form their unit into a flame template)

Epidemius explains itself.

Chaos Lord with Juggernaut, mark of khorne and axe of silly rage or whatever it's called the one that blinds you, works well with a unit of bikers of khorne

I've heard good things about the forgefiend not that I've played it myself.

Terminators are godly for their points, basically max on combi plas/melta and use them as drop pod sternguard that then take stuff out in melee after they've arrived and popped something

Indeed, these are the units I'm looking at.

Plus, Noise Marines with sonic blasters, Helldrakes with baleflamers, and Obliterators.

Are all great units, just not ones that are point 'efficient' for what they do, so while the above bikes etc are ridiculously no brainers because they are far more efficient than anything of their role for their points the more fun stuff, Noise Marines, Heldrakes and Obliterators are all great choices just not quite so no brainers and you have to have a list where they can compliment it. If you have a rhino rush of marines with melta is the obliterator the best choice or are you just taking too much anti tank... etc

In fact, you are right about the Noise Marines. They are not very point efficient.
Nevertheless, I'd consider the Helldrake and Obliterators (which served me well in former editions), since they allow you to combat units at different ranges.
On the other hand, Forgefiends and Havocs with autocannons need to be considered in a competitive list.

Battle Barge Impossible Fortress

I've used everything in the book except Khorne units, plague marines, noise marines, special characters (besides Ahriman).

I'd say that your best bet as far as tactics go is to run at least 2 large units of any power armored Troops choice. If you take CSMs as those Troops, they need Icon of Vengeance unless you attach a Fearless character to them.

The Forgefiends are nice but make sure you run two of them.. Same goes with Helldrakes. I'm seeing mixed results on Baleflamer vs. Hades Autocannon. I'd say that comes down to personal preference.

It's nice to have a psyker that's Mastery Level 3 and they're cheap enough to fit into your army easily.

Try to avoid Mutilators. They are just awful. I think that's the first time I've said something overly negative about this book.. Seriously, they suck. Even when you infiltrate 3 of them who are marked.

There are a lot of upgrades for units but don't feel that you need to spend a lot of points on everything. Cheap is the way to go.

I have been running autocannon havocs since before the new book and they have always worked great, but now that they are cheaper I like them even more.

Recently I have started being more agressive with my obliterators, marching them up the field while shooting, and giving them a mark of nurgle I haven't had to worry about s8 instant death.

I will be picking up bikes this week and I am excited to see how they perform on the battlefield.

+1 for Daemon allies. I have been running a Great Unclean one, a squad of plaguebearers, and 5 bases of nurglings with my nurgle themed army. The normally slow nurgle daemons work very well with the long range and medium range shooting of the rest of my army.

Looks like you have 3 squads of 8 berserkers, a Terminator Lord, a Bloodthirster and "maybe" a Kharn the Betrayer model left of the Bloodthirster. You also have 8 bloodletters and a set of 9 very old metal Terminators.

With this setup, I would suggest..

IF you have Kharn, take him and put him in a blob of 18
if not

Lord w/ Blob of 18 Berserkers (merge two squads)

1x8 squad of berserkers on foot or in a rhino if you can get one, find a way to have a champion with a PW (sword or maul or Fist)

Bloodthirster w/ Collar of Khorne + Unholy Strength

8 bloodletters as troops

You should be able to work this into a 1000 pt list fairly easily and start killing things. Enjoy!

For purchases, you want to look at at least one Heavy Support or Fast choice aforementioned with decent firing options, as having nothing but assaulty units may be a downfall, especially with Flyers that you literally cannot touch, or opening transports to assault it's contents same turn.

If you get this army, get a Khorne Juggernaut Lord with the Axe of Blind Fury, He's great with Footlsogging Berserkers, he's highly effective considering his role. He can run protected and launch off to 1-hit-wonder any basic squad, or charge together with his unit to just overkill most things.

I really like Forgefiends, but Obliterators may be a decent tradeoff, take whichever you like more. Obliterators are more versatile and possibly more resilient, but depending on the target pump out less shots. However, they're not a vehicle that can get downed in 1 hit. They can run away, though ... not fearless, just leadership 8.

Or, get both :-)

Personally I think this codex has some awesome possibilities for Nurgle/Khorne combinations. One thing I'd like to try is using MoN Chaos Spawn and Khorne Warp Talons in tandem. The spawn would basically be T6 overwatch sponges for the relatively expensive (and fragile) Talons. imho it would be great for munching power armour. Thoughts?

Song for the Chaos Gods
Khorne is for the killing,
Nurgle for decay,
Slaneesh is for indulging,
& Tzeench will change the way

... anyways, yes, I can see a good pairing of Khorne and Nurgle .... Khorne brings the killiness, and Nurgle refuses to die. T6 spawn seems pretty good, but for 36 points all they're giving the Talons are a 5+ cover save ... but then again if you don't address the Spawn, them assaulting you is a terrible fate, I suppose, with that many s5 attacks.

I was just thinking about that, for my other favored choice of CSM builds - I5 and FNP, oh yeah.

Add Fabius and enhance those infiltrating FNP troopers.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Chaos marines are still and will be very good. But sadly some of the cult troops have taken a hit, but they all still work. Plauge marines are however the best cult troopers in my opinion.
I prefer to run a few squads of them backed up by havocs with auto cannons and Terminators, Forgefiends with auto cannons work very well and the model actually looks quite nice.
