Let's say i have a quad gun manned by some models. Then I'm facing Tyranids, and a Mycetic Spore deep strikes with the doom of Malan'tai on the battlefield to kill my troops. How does this work if i intercept the spore with my quad gun/lascannnon?

Would the doom disembark before or after I intercept. If he disembarks before, would i be able to target him? If he disembarks after, what would happen if i killed the pod? Since it is not a transport and only a MC, how would this work if i destroyed it while the doom was inside?

Im almost 90% sure I read somewhere they take falling damage as if it was a flying transport destroyed but I have to look it up.

This is what is stupid about the Interceptor USR, you shoot at a target after its movement phase, after arriving from reserves.

So that means that the Doom arrives via Deep Strike, then disembarks and then gets to move, before you even shoot at it.

It should work like it sounds for transports (like DP or MS), you should get to shoot the transport out of the sky, (potenially) killing the occupants inside.

But can the Quad gun or Icarus lascannon shoot the doom of malan'tai? I believe it should be able to

At the end of the Movement phase, the ILC or QG can fire at a single unit that arrived that turn. On the turn the Spore DS did the Doom arrive?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I believe that he does arrive from reserve even though he was embarked in a transport. Just my opinion and just because i hate the doom. I play freaking daemons and i hate the doom...

To answer your question, anything that was in Reserve at the beginning of the turn and is now in play, has arrived from Reserves that turn.

Had to say you don't get to move after getting out of a spod; it gets 2" and that's it.

Yes, you can shot the Doom. Unless he deploys it out of LoS of the Quad gun.

Deploy pod. Deploy doom on the other side of pod. Giggle as the Icarus can only target the Pod.

Yes, you can restrict where he deploys which has some tactical advantage, but...

Right, sorry, Deep Striking counts as its movement (for the most part).

But then he willn't be in range to kill the icarus and the models for his ability.

It's actually not hard to hit a unit on the other side of the pod. I do it all the time. But we're drifting off-topic.

But doenst the Quadgun/ ILC use BS 1 when shooting at a ground target like the DoM or the Pod?

No, the very rule that lets him intercept the enemy allows him to fire at full BS against ground targets.

It fires at a single unit that arrives from reserve, also it says that the unit can be fired as long as it is within range and LOS, but when is the LOS determined?. If the pod lands within LOS, then the Dooms position of entry onto the field is also within the LOS of the gun?... My mysetic spore is big enough to cover the Doom completely, however the rule doesn't specify if the gun's LOS is drawn before or after disembarking deployment... Also I was always led to believe that its the Mysetic Spore that arrives from reserve and deep strikes, the Doom arrives via Deep strike as embarked it is written in the rulebook and the Tyranid codex. But as the Doom cannot himself arrive by deep strike and as you don't roll for the dice for the Doom and the Mysetic spore as the reserve unit then how is he effected by this rule?...

The only way to trace LoS is after the models are placed.

And if you'd read the thread you Necroed you'd know that any unit that was in reserves but is now on the board arrived this turn. How they got there doesn't matter for this scenario.

When shooting at units that arrive via deep strike I think people get Coteaz's rule mixed up, whereas he shoots everytime a unit enters the field... I fail to see how a 35pt gun could fire in a players turn, and then out of sequence, at a target that exits a vehicle that has fallen from the sky, I'd understand that it fires as the Deep striking unit enters the atmosphere but I believe the purpose was not intended to maim the Doom or even say a Dreadnaught before it has a chance to enter the combat... Even If it is the case I will now happily deploy the Doom on the blind side of my spores, and deny LOS... The Codex and FAQ also say nothing about the Dooms ability requiring LOS, just that the units must be within 6", so with the Inertial guidance he'll still be killing stuff unopposed in the turn he lands...
If the Mysetic spore does die, then it dies, the Doom has already disembarked so remains unharmed, if you have another gun on the aegis line, then blast away at the Doom...
