Has anyone else seen the new show? Some of the jokes really cracked me up and I thought the style and animation were spot on. In an age of re-makes, this may finally be a worthwhile re-make.
Yes. This remake I like! The 1 hour premier episodes was a great watch. I especially like this show's version of Splinter's sagey wisdom, which manages to make the character the Obi-Wan styled mentor while at the same time very down to earth. Miyagi would be proud.
Micky is a little to slap stick for my tastes but the portrayal of the cast is much stronger imo than the last TMNT series from Fox.
EDIT: Also notice that the animation style is an interesting cross between CGI and the Pasticine stop-motion of stuff like Wallace and Gromit, an interesting combo.

I'm grateful that the show is being taken seriously without having to take itself seriously. It's like you said about Splinter: here we have a ninja master mutated into a rat man and yet he seems so ... relevant. My favorite scene with him was when he said he would have to meditate on who should be their leader and within a nanosecond he's like "It's Leonardo." Hilarious, especially since as I'm think "uh, who else could possibly be the leader???"
I really love the fluidity of the characterization. Borrowing from Teen Titans and Avatar, the animators aren't afraid of some anime techniques. The turtles can be pupil-less ninja warriors or wide-eyed kids, depending upon the emotional needs of the scene. And the voice acting choices are great, especially having the guy who did Beast Boy do Michelangelo. It is a bit weird to hear the old Raphael as the new Donatello.

Yes. This x1000. Also loved the end of the episode where he explains right and wrong decisions
And OMG, Mikey is Beast Boy! I knew his voice was familiar but I couldn't place it.

I hate to pick on you, but, did they change the story somehow? Splinter was always a ninja master's pet rat, copying his moves in his cage. Then later mutated into the rat man.
We were once so close to heaven, St. Peter came out and gave us medals; declaring us "The nicest of the damned".

Same origin as the 80s cartoon, Man turned Rat rather then Rat turned Man.
WAtched the first hour. Its cute. Funny how they "discovered" pizza though.

I just can't enjoy this new style blocky cgi work, it drives me nuts! maybe i'm just too old and enjoy the drawn cartoons like Transformers, He-Man and thundercats :-( which is a shame as I'd like to re-enjoy the TMNT again!

I'm loving it so far, especially the characterisation of Splinter and the Turtles and the interaction between them all. The animation I think is fantastic - I've studied 3D animation and know the sort of work that goes into it, and damn, this show impresses me like whoa. The fight scenes in the second half of episode 4 - I've watched them so many times, aheh.
I'm really looking forward to how the story and characters develop.
