Hello Dakka!

So, I have been wanting to do a Drop Troop army for awhile now. I really like the flavor of it and the Elysian rules are pretty cool (even if they are not competitive). The only thing is that I like the Cadian Kasrkin models a lot more than the FW Elysians, despite the fact that Kasrkins only come in metal. Would it be okay to run Kasrkin as Drop Troops using the Elysian army list? I understand that it comes down to my oppenets decision but what do you guys think most people would respond with?

Also, would do Kasrkin end up being cheaper than FW?
Thanks in advance!

No one would have a problem with that as long as they're still WYSIWYG.

The models would be perfectly fine; I can't see anyone complaining, the only issue I'd forsee is confusion over which are regular drop troops and which are Stormtroopers. The models would end up being significantly cheaper; at current pound-dollar exchange rates it's around 1.8 times as expensive to pick up ten Elysians as it is to get ten Kasrkins.

Have fun building your Elysian army!

Hmm, they might actually...although, Pig Iron make an awesome range of carapace troopers that look similiar...that's what I use instead and they look pretty sweet, especially with cadian heads!

I just looked at Pig Iron. They have some great models! Their System troops look straight out of Halo and they are decently priced to boot! I might have to change my mind...

What is it with GW prices in Canada, 10 Kasrkins are roughly the price of 10 Elysians/DKoK Guardsmen/Grenadiers

In terms of price per model, it's hard to beat these guys. I'm unsure about the scale, but they could work well instead of elysians.

The mantic minis are 28mm scale but they are not heroic scale when compared to gw cadian minis.

Also the FW elysians are neither heroic scale but closer to realistic 28mm.

I know this because I read it somewhere. You should be ok if you mix only elysians and corporation.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

I run Elysians using Shadowforge Spec. Ops Marines, so Kasrkin... well, I'd say you could use them as Stormtroopers or Grenadier Veterans, but you'd be hard pushed to convince me they were regular drop troops.

Defiance Games makes some nice plastic kits in what seems to be 28mm heroic.

Only thing they need to be a perfect stand in for Elysians is some futuristic backpack to represent the grav-chutes. Try browsing puppet's war or kromlech for those.

How many games have you had with them? It normally all goes wrong, but with the right builds they are good...

Now go and get an IA8 army
