Does Forge World use this crap resin, too?

They use a different resin.

Is it a better quality - more durable and less of a nightmare to clean off excess?

Yes, its pretty good quality. Much stiffer, less flash, finer details, and I've yet to see any miscasts where the mold didn't meet properly or one half of the mold was not aligned. Forgeworld is nicer quality.

You've either been very lucky, been ordering since about IA 10 when their stuff got considerably better, or both. Anything before then was frought with miscasts and still is. Even after, it's not uncommon. FW, like GW, are fantastic about giving replacements though,

Apparently you are happy buying defective merchandise. If I buy something, especially brand new sealed in a box, I expect it to be perfect. I guess if you go buy a new car and it only starts most of the time you would be quite happy with that too?

And how does the hot water thing work when the model eventually moves back into its "memory" position long after you have painted it? How does your water based acyrlic paint like the bath?

It's what I do. Besides, converting stuff is fun and will usually get a lot of compliments if it's even partially well made.

I'd suggest not buying resin products off anyone if you feel that way. No one will have a 100% track record with resin.

Also, FYI, plastic gets defects too. One of my Dark Vengeance Cultists has a nice, big air bubble in the shoulder. It's just a lot rarer.

1. if you do it properly before painting, it won't bend back.
2. Water based acrylic paints do nothing except get wet in hot water. That's why we need to use gak like a 24hour+ simple green soak to strip them.

As mentioned before, call GW and get a replacement. Bent pieces are very common with resin models and most are easily fixed with a dip in hot water.

Hot water and gentle pressure corrects bends in resin.

Resin modelling 101.

iv seen plenty of reports saying this doesnt do anything. total waste of time.

the reason the parts become bent in the first place is because they pull the model from the mold too early. the resin finishes its curing process in the bent position giving it a nasty memory. it will take alot more than hot water to fix that.

Krieg! What a hole...

Its works most of the time, I fixed a few lasguns that way, as well as a flamer, I have a stubborn lasgun that doesn't want to bent back to shape and that is about it.

BS. if you have a nice paintjob the last thing you want to do is stick it in boiling water and try to bend crap.

say you had a GD entry. you'd feel comfortable trying that? i highly doubt it.

I've bought several Finecast models. Most recently, Vulkan Hestan.

Every model I've bought has had issues (Ghazghkull, Space Marine Librarian, Vulkan, Big Mek)

Every time, I've contacted GW on it, they've replaced it free of charge in a reasonable amount of time. The replacement models they send tend to be in better shape, but even then they've replaced it a second time.

Just e-mail or call them and they will do their best to make it right.
