Stalwart Dark Angels Space Marine

Somewhere dark, cold and scary (A.K.A my mind)

Now befor you start yelling at me hear me out first.
I'm not suggesting they make a second Ultramarine movie, but I do think you could make a pretty good movie out of 40k fluff,
but perhaps it should be based on a black libary book or set in the HH
What do you think?

I apolgise for spellings.

May your rolls be high and your victories countless

I'd much rather they focus their funds on updating prehistoric codices, units missing models for years, fixing FC, getting up to speed with digital products . . . basically focus on the game we all pay to play.

GW isn't directly involved in filmmaking, they just give the rights to a studio and have a loose production title attached. If anything it will boost their money.

And yes, they should. Ultramarines was an abortion. It's very difficult to make a direct-to-video sci-fi CGI movie that doesn't blow (see the recent Starship Troopers) however.

They need to do what marvel has been doing, show that it can make money and let the talent gravitate to the Intellectual Property. Even of they don't start their own film studio like marvel did, the IP has power and depth, two things required for a good line of movies.

As cool as it could be if it was done right, I dont think it should happen, because it wouldn't be dark enough to live up to my expectations.

I want to see them make a movie about Inquisitor Obi-Wan Sherlock Clousseau fight Genestealers on Space Hulk.

Or.. at least.. I'd love to see the reviews for that movie

They should.

But not about Space Marines. Space Marines make for poor characters, they're so THUPER THPECIAL that they can't really identify with the audience. The best you could hope for with Space Marines as the focus would be a Michael Bay-esque bolter porn movie.

Couldn't do the xenos either, too alien to identify with.

Which leaves the Imperial Guard. which is such a fething ripe ground for movie-making, that on release day I would have so much enthusiasm for that flick that I'd be forced to drop kick every object between me and the theater.

Although, you know what would be even better? A Band of Brothers style mini-series starring the Imperial Guard. Follow a regiment through their campaign on some awful world, just human soldiers fighting through the worst the universe has to offer.

I feel like if they did IG, it would be too close to Band of Brothers IN SPACE!

It would be hard to make a 40k movie that appeals to those already in the hobby, and those not in the hobby.

Maybe if they can get James Cameron. Hell I'd take Michael Bay, seems like there should be a lot of explosions in a 40k movie.

When they do another movie, I hope it isn't SM. That's why I havent seen a 40k film yet, I already know the movies. SM says,"Hail the Emperor" and they win, cue credits. A movie about a group of IG in a massive war with no end in sight against a Xenos . . . now that would be sick and I would gladly watch it! SM are the last thing I want to see more of. Get so old, they're supposed to be super small mega elite forces but you can't take out the garbage without tripping over one on your porch and landing face first into a poster of one.

Not necessarily, it could be IG against cunning and brilliant DE. It could be IG fighting off what seems to be a simple rebellion on a Hive world only to find out too late it is a full blown Chaos infestation. As much as I would like to see Tyranids in a movie, I'd bet on GW making Grots being the villains over them.

I think a movie adaptation of the Eisenhorn trilogy would work very well from both of those perspectives. I thought that was one of the strongest elements of the books as I read them. They were interesting compelling stories that existed within the 40k universe without requiring the reader to be immersed in the background to enjoy the story.

I agree, the Eisenhorn books don't require any real knowledge of the 40k background. I got my girlfriend to read the Eisenhorn short story when he's on Sameter (and there are the murders that are hidden away...you know the one...). She love it. Thought it was very sad, but loved it. And she knows nothing about 40k. You just sell it as 'a detective movie in space, with dark twists and evil abounds'.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...
