Dakka, who do you think, pound for pound are the best Snipers in 40k?
For anything listed, its that unit with nothing. No dedicated transport, no IC attached, just them operating alone.

Vindicare for sheer versatility.
See somebody sig about all his Vindi kills, you won't see a ratling squads or scouts do that. Can't say for the Rangers.

I really feel like the Vindicares usefulness has been savagely lessened by "Look out Sir!" Killing Special weapons is great and all, but only killing 5-7 Special weapons guys a game is not worth his cost.

Killing 5-7 melta marines also means your expensive transports dont die too quickly.
As much as i want to say the vindi, im not going to out of sheer hate for it.
Im simply going with pathfinders as ive only just started with eldar, and they have been a solid choice every game.

I had forgotten about the turbo penetrator.
I see alot of people voting for the Vindicare, but how are these people protecting him? Part of why I didn't vote for him is because a stray lascannon, or missle round can kill him while a squad of Eldar Pathfinders laugh at such attempts to kill them.

Eh, they're fleet, move through cover, have stealth and infiltrate. so.... in ruins they get a 2+ cover then they have a 6+ FnP...they also have a 4++ if they need it. They also have "deadshot" which means they always allocate wounds however they want.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

But definately the Vindicare, as the single best, although he does cost a lot for 1 fragile target

The Best in general. As in you can have 200 points(just for example) of any sniper(s). Which ones would you most want supporting your army?

This poll is for the best Snipers.
@kwah - Tau, sadly don't have any units with a weapon with the 'Sniper' special rule. In other words, they don't have Snipers, in the 40k sense of the word.

Well, I opted for Eldar Pathfinders since they have a good cover save and are hard hitting - harder than any other sniper squad.
The Vindicare is not for me as I'm not running named characters.

Gotta go with Pathfinders. In a shootout between a vindicare and its equivalent points in pathfinders, assuming everyone is in range and in the same cover, the eldar snipers have more shots, more wounds, and a better cover save.
