To stay out of range of the ACs means you're staying in your deployment zone. Please do so.
12" deployment + 24" AC range. Deploy towards the middle of the field and he doesn't have to move. If you move up, you're pretty much in range.

but fliers tend to have rather long range, so they can come in on the edges and still hit their targets. The Assault cannons will hit stuff, but they just might not be able to hit fliers without moving.
also while AV13 does make them immune to krak grenades, it wont save them from melta or powerfists and anyhting that costs over 200 points is gonna be a magnet for that stuff. If it is in the middle of the field you are going to have to roll a bunch of those 5++ saves to avoid death.

If I'm forcing the Fliers to stay in nat narrow 12", I've essentially neutered them due to their movement requirements.
I'm okay with that.

There are other deployments than DoW, there are other factors determining where you can realistically position him and the table is 72" wide.
If you play DoW and the enemy army/terrain allows you to place your mortis at the exact centre of the table, 12" in, then he will be able to cover a lot of the table with 24" range. However, that is an unlikely set-up.
I´m not saying that the contemptor isn´t good, but he isn´t really broken either.

Power Fists against AV13 is going to take forever unless you're a Warboss or a Vehicle though.

against one sure, but 5 of them as in a squad of terminators?
I just think it is a lot of eggs to be putting in one basket, especilly if it is short ranges and is going to be exposed to those sorts of issues.

Hammer and Anvil gives you a little more room to maneuver, but I'm still okay with keeping you in your deployment zone. Same with Vanguard.
All I was saying was that the whole " lol 24 inch range I can stay out of that" attitude meant you're essentially staying in your deployment zone. Have fun with that.

Never said it was. Heck, I never even hinted that it was.
