I'd say the crypteks would grab him and restrain him, and something tells me there would be a transfer to a lesser body for him because it's time for more capable leadership.

Because they'd rather not, way to much of a headache to balance it out. For each star you blow up you need to blow up ten or twenty more to balance it out. Besides If the imperium fell then chaos would take over, and the crons don't like chaos.

The man speaks the truth, using the orrey is their passing of the Godzilla Threshold. They would only use it if sacrificing one star would save an entire group of sectors or more.

Yes and No, and yes.

The necron empire is really a collection of various royal dynasties, that were at one time ruled over by the Silent King.

The Necrontyr were a sentient race, then then got transplanted into metal bodies of varying quality. The better quality the body, the more of their mind was retained. Nobles got better bodies then the commoners.

Necron Warriors = Necrontyr civilians

Necron Immortals = The Necrontyr soldiers

Preatorians and Lytchguard = Royal Bodyguards

Destroyers are Necrons that, IIRC, have gone mad from the biotransference and now hate everything.

Wraiths, Scarabs, and Spyders are mearly machines. They are Guards and Maintanance Crews respecitvely.

Flayed Ones were Necron nobility that destroyed the C'tan, and the act destroyed their minds and they are now just mindless killers.

Everything else were nobility and such.

Yes they're basically tomb kings in space, but I'll refer you to lexicanum instead of typing it all out here.

Because the Orrery is not a toy. It's for pruning and grooming the universe, not blowing up planets you don't like.

No,

There are no "Good Guys" in 40k. Just sides with varying shades of grey and black.

Let me put it this way. The position of Unstoppable, Endless, Destroyer of All Life in the Galaxy now completely belongs to the Tyranid. That said, the Necron are now significantly more than that. The key feature is perspective. From the Imperium's point of view ie., the imperial guard, the necrons are the same mindless, robotic armies that they've always been. The difference is now the upper echelons of the necron armies have been given more detail, a position which didn't even exist under the old material. The upper echelon, consisting of the various dynasty lords and their courts now have their own goals. Some wish to rebuild their empires and absorb/enslave other races into it. Some(Many) have gone mad and wish to destroy all life in the galaxy. Others wish to return to their organic bodies by any means necessary. The point is there is now reason for necron dynasties to act as unique entities in the same way craftworlds, chapters, or ork clans do instead of being a single, C'Tan controlled face. None are good, but some are slightly less detrimental to the survival of humanity than others.

There's a lot of fluff that would argue otherwise. Most fluff points to the fact that if Humanity is destroyed, Chaos will be as well. Read...

IMHO, the Orrery is just a designers tool to show how amazing and technologically advanced the Necrons are, and even how they're no longer life-destroying meanies in the fluff. But the Orrery will never actually contribute/change anything in the 40K Universe; it'd be too powerful, hence the handy get out clause of it being well protected and not misused.

I kinda imagine it as GW saying "Hey! Wow! Look at this amazing device, the Necrons are so powerful and advanced that they've got this really cool toy that can destroy stars at a whim. But its really well protected, so it'll never ever get used, but the Necrons are clearly really amazing, no?"

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Post above mine explain it all, Celestial Orrery is so well protected that even Necrons are not allowed in there.
So if spem crazy Necron Overlord want's to pop some light he would need an army first to conquer it.

The universe has many horrors yet to throw at us. This is not the end of our struggle. This is just the beginning of our crusade to save Humanity. Be faithful! Be strong! Be vigilant!

note I did not talk about humanity being destroyed, I talked about the imperium falling. Rome fell, but it didn't kill everyone in Europe. I'm saying that if the governmental structure of the imperium fell then chaos would take over.

Frankly, I'm waiting for some stupid Inquisitor with his stupid battle fleet, stupidly conquers the planet. Then, upon discovering the Orrey, the stupid Inquisitor stupidly sneezes on the Orrey. c'est la vie galaxy.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.
