If I buy a PS3 game I don't want Sega Saturn graphics (no offense intended towards Sega Saturn owners) and I want the game to actually work properly (admittedly, things like the Skyrim Magical Gravity Defying Horse are pretty hilarious).
Still, I am in two minds as to whether to buy a Gamecube and Metroid Prime, on account of the game's awesomeness.
You should go one better and get an advance with Metroid Zero Hour? (long time since I had it), play it, complete it, unlock the original and play that too. Sheer awesomeness!
If you have already done this, internet high five!

The quality of a game's Gameplay is effected by every other quality it has; to deny this is to be blind and ignorant. And you know what? Instead of having them vomit out the same stuff I already overplayed for ten years in a row, yeah, I fething WOULD like them to take risks and screw up with new stuff. Stale bread is still worse than burnt bread.

Or new bread tastes like gak a portion of the time, so just make the stuff you know your guests will like?
And when I'm talking about gameplay I mean literally the act of playing the game and what goes into it. For example, FF7 had little actual gameplay; mostly button mashing, reading and the occasional tactical decision. It had big, fancy graphics that everyone oohed and ahhed over at the time and now everyone is a little ashamed of. The one thing people brag about is the story. I don't care about that. I want GAMEPLAY. Mortal Kombat II looks like ass now (and then IMO but to each their own) but still has a devoted fan base.
And obviously it's not exactly the same "stale" experience being put out every time if so many people want it. How much does Mario Kart *need* to change? Smash Bros? They're fine. To feth with them drastically would be criminal. To better understand what you're talking about as well, please tell me a couple of series that are "the same stuff you've overplayed for the last ten years" and let's see how accurate that statement is.

And it also sucks ass, so it's a matching set. Mortal Kombat wasn't ever a good game. And before the inevitable whining, I'm not saying this because of graphics. It sucks the whole way through. The gameplay is boring and monotonous, the story is non-existent, the graphics were meh even for the time it was released, and it's little more than an exercise in button mashing-- funny that, considering that's what you said about FF7. There's no intellectual thought that goes in to the game, no engaging story that will draw you in, and no variation in gameplay. And it has NOT aged well. There's been many, MANY better fighters released since then, despite the "let's all copy mortal kombat / street fighter" crap that's been going on.

Just to clarify, you being abrasive doesn't make you right somehow. I agree that compared to Capcom or SNK of the day, MKII played like buns too, but it still has a competitive scene. I was a KoF fan from the first time I played it on GameBoy. It still takes strategy though, and practice. You're saying you could just up and clear it on hard mode since mashing buttons is all you have to do and it takes no effort otherwise whatsoever? Please make arguments, not ridiculous claims. Some people really, really like the MK story too. That was one of the old arguing points of SF vs MK. There are plenty of other fighters but I wouldn't necessarily say better as with fighters, every technical detail counts. I can kick one of my friends asses in SFA but we're toe to toe on SFA3 all because of some frame changes. And as far as the "copying of SF/MK" point, I've been hearing that argument since the early 90s so it's not really anything new.

Neither does your saying "but people liked it". Some people like to eat turds. That doesn't mean that turds are good eating. I've said my piece, I don't really want to derail this thread any more than it already is.

Yes, yes. Not liking popular things makes you cool and edgy.
Anyway, I'm psyched for the Wii U. Nintendo uses the same IP, but to somehow imply that they aren't innovative in its delivery of said characters and themes is mind-bogglingly ignorant.
