Hi there. I'm new to WH40K and my first army is Necrons, which are fairly straight-forward to paint. I've also started to collect some Imperial Guard and I had an idea for their color scheme to use something other than the standard khaki/tan and green. I went for a dark orange type base, with white body armor and some other details. I'll post a link to a short video I took of my first test model.
The paint on the shoulders is a little bit thick, but that's because I repainted them about 4 times while trying different colors before settling on white.

hmm...did you douse him in liquid skill? (Agrax Earthshade). He looks like hes lacking some shadowing, might just be the lighting though. That stuff drastically improved my painting, and you literally just coat the finished model in the stuff head to toe.

I did the orange parts and his gun with a dark tone wash from Armypainter. I wanted the white to remain mostly clean, so I didn't wash those parts.
