A while back I heard something about all other Space Marine armies (Space Wolves, Dark Angels etc) can't use a certain type of flyer but regular Space Marines (Ultramarines) can. Could someone tell me if this is or isn't the case and if so what flyer can Dark Angels use? Thanks.

For the Lion and the Emperor.

You know Warhammer is getting to real when you being using 40K swears, for example "fug" and "Emperors Hairy Arse!" When writing this the word arse was not recognized, well done.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

DAs have no flyer. They can only get one through Allies.

The Stormraven is for BAs and GKs.

And Vanilla Marines get the Stormtalon.

C:SM has access to the Stormtalon. AFAIK they're the only power armor codex to have a White Dwarf model.

Dark Angels only have access to flyers through allies or Imperial Armour

Damn, really wanted to get some Flyers but thanks any ideas for good allies for Dark Angels with flyers that aren't other Space Marines as well.

Thanks after the crap I've given IG they do seem like an army I'd play now and Necrons are pretty damn cool with their Flyers.

Agreed, but first look at the pros/cons from them with the allies descriptions / matrix IIRC pg 112-113

I'll probably have to go Guardsmen as the "One Eye Open" rule that I would have for the Necrons would be a hamper but as Allied Independent Characters can join friendly units this would help with Guardsmen higher Leadership even when dying in the droves like they do. But isn't the Vendetta a Forgeworld model though?

The vendetta is the same kit as the Valkyrie I think.

you can join an IC to a guard squad, and ATSKNF transfers over now. So Platoon + DA HQ is legit.
The Vendetta is an upgraded Valkyrie both are found in Codex:Imperial Guard.
The model can be bought/ordered from your local store ^^

Only downside, does not come with lascannons for the upgrade.

Thanks for the help! Though I'll have to get it Online for I have no GW store in my town unless I have a 2 hour car journey or a 40 mintue bus journey. The Problems of a Wargamer.

That's quite upsetting actually. 2 Hobby-esque stores where I live sell GW. 1 Game store in town, and 1 in a town about 35 min away. The 35 min drive one is really nice with 6-8 4x6 tables to play on.

The one in town only as couple tables.

Worse still an actual GW did open but it was in a hallway at like a childrens indoor play park thing, dunno what the American version would be probably Chucky Cheese, the guy sold one thing, which was Black Reach to my friend.

Oh god that's Horrid. If it wasn't for the 2 stores that allow in store play I'd have never picked up on it. It's a huge selling poing imo. However take what you can get I suppose.

I got into this from the Space Marine game, my interest went from killing lots of things, to this has books and 24 books, 6 games and a Dark Vengeance later here I am amazing how this turned out for me, though now we are massively off-topic, this started with flyers, remember that.

The vendetta uses the same model as the Valkyrie - but swaps out the missile pods and multilaser for three twin linked lascannons. There is NO GW plastic model kit for the vendetta (there IS a FW add-on "conversion kit" for it - or several other resin cast bits makers also do them - or you can use other GW plastic lascannon bits to do it.

If you go with DA and guard allies, take Azrael, put him with a giant squad of guardsmen, and laugh at your opponents crying when they realize that 60-man blob of guardsmen has a 4+ invuln save and ATSKNF.

DA and Guard aren't battle brothers. I thought that meant you couldn't add main formation ICs to the allied formation.

Only Battle Brother IC's can join their allies units.

Allies of convenience and Desperate allies can not.

Do HQ's like Azrael only apply to the army in question like if I use the vanilla marine codex I can't use the Dark Angel HQ's? As if so I might have some changes.

You follow the Force Org chart on P.109

That will tell you what you can and can not take.

The allies Matrix is on P. 113

Maybe I did not understand your question.

Bad phrasing on my part, can you use an independent Dark Angel HQ like Azrael but I'm using a Space Marine Codex not a Dark Angel one as there be talk of a new Codex so don't want to buy the DA one just for another to come out a month later.

The only HQ's you can use with a Space Marine army are the HQ units listed in the Space Marine Codex, unless you are using allies.

If your primary detachment is Space Marines you can use the Allied Force org chart to pick up other HQ units, but the allied units must all come from one codex.

Right, now that makes sense, might just buy the DA codex and get Azrael and Ezekiel though they are metal models and I have a distrust of them any ideas if they come on sprues cause if so I have no hope of building them on limited supplies and I mean cheap glue and a pair of scissors really should get the proper stuff soon now.
