He's got a point. Whatever else you may say about the Eldar, they are very good at not being found.

Craftworld Eldar can only stay a limited time in the Webway...unless they 'drink' souls like their cousins do.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

Source?

Dark Eldar consume souls in order to keep their bodies from dying of old age, because they don't use soul stones.

Eldar can be constantly in the Warp without any kind of bad effect from them, hence the Harlequines are constantly in the Webway - guarding the Black Library.

And aren't Dark Eldar immortal like their Eldar brethren?

The universe has many horrors yet to throw at us. This is not the end of our struggle. This is just the beginning of our crusade to save Humanity. Be faithful! Be strong! Be vigilant!

Eldar aren't immortal. They just live a really, really long time. And the stronger farseers like Eldrad can live even longer than that.

(Aghast) No, Eldar cannot enter the Warp - there's a reason Warp Spiders are considered as insanely reckless. I'm pretty sure I found/read it in a BL novel somewhere that when the Eldar enter the Webway, part of their soul gets 'leached' away, spirit stone or not. Dark Eldar compensate by 'drinking' the souls of others, whereas the Craftworld Eldar prefer not to remain in the Webway for an extended period of time. Harlequins are free of Slaanesh, however, and so can stay in the Webway for as long as they want.

Like Orks they live until something nastier and meaner than they are do them in.

Source? Because again, I've never heard that. The DE Codex's explanation for why Dark Eldar eat souls is to sustain their bodies and not grow old. I've never heard anything about the Webway slowly eating your soul.

Its not the Webway that eats their souls - its Slaanesh. The Webway is simultaneously part of the Warp and part of the material universe, so while Slaanesh can't rip their souls out in an instant, she can 'leach' bits and pieces off. As for source...must you ask? That means going through...a pile of BL novels and other GW publications on my shelf and in my hard drive.

Eldar do not enter the warp as far as I know due to She who Thirsts being strongest there.

The webway itself is a complex string of connections through the warp, like a rabbit warren in dirt. The walls keep out the warp, but like with the Warren if they collapse then the warp pours in. Which is why many of the access points are closed off on Craftworlds.

The reason why the Dark Eldar eat souls is like you say, to sustain themselves, but it's not because of the Webway it is because of Slaanesh. Within the webway the force of the Dark Prince is much less but it is still there, sucking out their essence. If they didn't consume the souls of others they would eventual be absorbed like the Eldar should their Spirit Stone be destroyed, just over a longer period of time should they say, remain in real space.

This is my understanding of how it works.

This is the first I'm hearing about it.

To sort of explain it bluntly, this is how the webway sort of is.

-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------

Where the blue is our plane and the red is the warp, the webway does in parts sort of dip in further to the warp however there is quite a lot of it probably near the surface. What there isn't so much of, though, are parts of the webway large enough to fit a craftworld in. These are the parts the general Eldar go through, with the DE in their little part hidden within and the Harlequins hidden even further in. If the IoM show up, the craftworld slips into one of these gates and goes somewhere else; which is why most will try not to drift too far from the places they can get into these tunnels to hide. Add in how small they are in the grand scale of things, I can't remember how big but assume around some of the larger IoM ships at most, and they hide quite easily.

Short of going into a tunnel with weakened walls or even a tear into the warp itself most should be fine, I can sort of see the draining happening but no where near that of the fall. Maybe a few centuries in the webway or something. The Harlequins do live in there as well and somehow manage to fend it off, though not much is known about them.

Which is false.

Craftworld Eldar have soul stones, which protect their souls from Slaneesh at all times, unless the soul stone is broken. Thus, they don't have to worry about their souls being siphoned away like their cousins do.

My point is if they stay in the Webway too long, even with Spirit Stones their souls are gonna get drained to the point they'll probably get debilitated or worse.

And that's a false statement, unless you can provide a source that states otherwise.

The [Webway does not siphon away Eldar souls at all. Slaanesh does not siphon away regular Eldar souls at all because their soul-stones prevent him from doing so. Thus, where are you getting the idea that if an Eldar is in the webway for too long his soul will drain away from?

Every time you make the assertion, I'm going to simply ask you to provide the source, until you do.

The Eldar codex and fluff specifically state that an Eldar's soul-stone completely prevents Slananesh from preying upon their souls.Considering that that is a fact, backed up with documented evidence, I'm really not sure how you could come to the conclusion that an Eldar's soul can sucked out even while he has a soul-stone protecting him. You're basically arguing against the fluff.

Spirit Stones only protect the soul after death. Hence, 'complete protection' is a misconception, as otherwise, Eldar wouldn't have to worry about Perils of the Warp or Daemons or anything along those lines.

The Dark Eldar drink souls because they don't rely on soulstones to do the job, and their sould get snuffed gradually. Also, if Atlas Infernal is to be believed, being on the Webway makes you YOUNGER.
