You should be able to use any models, as long as they are WYSIWYG.
The forgeworld rules for the FW units are useable with opponents permission.

If your shop/friends are cook with IA stuff, most stuff meant for use in standard 40k games will have 40K approved stamped on the page IIRC.
Best of luck with the memory, had a friend who was in a car accident. Similar problems, had trouble with short term memory for a couple years.

Not entirely true - everything is useable with opponents permission. Items marked " 40k" are as official as anything else GW produce.

All the 40k approved models have a big honking "40k Approved" stamp on their entry page in the relevant IA book. You can't miss it.

Ask your opponent if he approves you using a forgeworld model.

They'll have a stamp on the datasheet saying either 'Warhammer 40,000' or 'Apocalypse', the 'Warhammer 40,000' ones are relatively balanced and good for 40k games. It's always best to check with your opponent, however, as knowing whether you're allowing Forge World units can alter strategies and army builds (Aeronautica has some pretty cheap and efficient anti-aircraft and interceptors, making flyer-spam lists a lot weaker in that context).

Units intended for use in "regular" WH40K will be marked as such and units for Apocalypse likewise, and remember to check with your opponent if he is ok with using Imperial Armour units (just like the Forgeworld books says).

The last couple of Imperial Armory books will have either a Warhammer 40k stamp or an Apocalypse stamp, as AnomanderRake says. Warhammer 40,000 are meant for use in regular games, where Apocalypse isn't. For older books that don't have the Warhammer 40,000 stamp, a good rule of thumb is to ask "Is this a super heavy?" If not, it's generally OK for a normal 40k game.
