Ahoy ladz.

Lookin to get my land lubbin' fleet off the ground. Currently been pushing grey stock trukks around. No having that I say!

First some pics of its progression up unto this point

got a mast/sail (removable) and a crows nest

So... the down and dirty....

1. how would you create a cloth divider (rolled up or to side) between captains quarters and deck where mast ist?

2. Grot captain or ork?

3. Any tips on doing wood grain? Current scratching with tip of exacto in parallel lines/curves (not pictured)

4. What else is missing?

5. Realized forgot to mention I haven't added a platform over the seats where a driver/gunner stand. will probably have similiar handrailing around it

Thanks for the C & C !!!

Man, that is very a great job. No doubht you are talented with the plasticard...

I think the tip of the "boat" is not pointed enough, it kinda lose the "ship feel" when you see it from the front. This dont make the work any less amazing anyway...

For cloth, try using Green/Grey Stuff. Make it flat, let it harden a bit, and you will see how it is easy to "model" as cloth...

The captain should be Ork, at least a grot captain dont make sense for me (but that grot in the crow nest must stay there).

For wood i normally use wood sticks (gelato ones), so, i have no ideia.

You are great man, keep doying that kind of great work

If my post show some BAD spelling issues, please forgive-me, english is not my natural language, and i never received formal education on it...

Thank you very much for the kind words! I was afraid the point of the ship was a bit too rounded as well.. It's getting kind of tall though, and I worry it will get out of hand/in the way? However.. if I do choose to do that... I will totally put a pirate hat on that face, made of wood planks I say!

Greenstuff might very well work, i will try this!

Thank you again TDW!!

Looks great - for wood grain, the old school trick is a razor saw drug across the plastic to score it.

If you do the whole sheet before you cut the planks, it goes a bit quicker.

Looks great so far mate, keep it up!

As for cloth, I used to use cut bits from metal foil toothpaste/ointment tubes; it's thin enough to look to scale, easy to fold to shape, and you can allways go back and tweak the shape if you're not happy (unlike greenstuff once it's set).

The down side is I found it will hold a coat of paint ok, but it tends to rub off easily unless you're careful when fixing it in place, so a couple coats of varnish are a good idea.

Yeah I realized my folly! Will be cutting the deeper grains with a hobby knife, then will try the razor as you suggested (assuming line serrated teeth perpendicular to sheet then drag lengthways?)

Considered hitting it all with sand paper as well for some smaller grains?

Perpendicular and lengthwise is the way to go - unless you want short planks

Thanks LL!

@ steel, when you say a "razor saw" I assume you just mean a serrated saw of some sort, like a hacksaw, hobby saw etc?

Saw a youtube video on the planks, saw the tool you described.

I can't remember what we called those things... we always used them to cut drywall though... Japanese something? I don't know.

Will have to stop by harbor freight on the way home then!

No one at hardware store can find this thing even with a pic Lol... Used a hacksaw blade. Might break it into small pieces to go into pliers for hard to reach areas if need be. Think hobby knife will handle those mostly though

Thanks, might have to check hobby shop or online instead

hopefully start painting it soon!

steering wheel/sub deck and handrails added

loads o rivets and woodgrain-ing (REMINDER, CARVE WOODGRAIN INTO BARE SHEETS BEFORE CUTTING PLANKS....)

fits just about right. might leave the driver off of it, or magnetize a grot as a driver/in crows nest once boys disembark?

rivets and wood grain

steering wheel/inside cladding.. added check plates to interior walls

anyways cheers everyone thanks for the kind words will hopefully get this done quick!

Won't be priming it until tomorrow night or afterwards, so if you have any final C&C it would be much appreciated!!

your entire construct is worthless unless you add the following:

otherwise, looks fancy

tyrant of loserville wrote: Nice work! A proper bow and a mer-ork figure head and it'll be sailin in no time!!!

going to have to do a mer ork on one for sure! and a pointier bow!

these are pretty rough WIP paint shots so been gentle (stopped randomly when fixing overlap of silver/brown and applying rust to inside of bow/front of ram/face

Going to add splashes of color on the armor plating. probably a red yellow and a blue plate, who knows.

Thinking about getting those goblin pirate mini's from freebooter i think? one looks like he would make a mighty fine captain but over $5 a pop... and I really only want 2/5 or 3/5 the set

bought a trukk+boys box and have looted the wheels from my un-built 3rd battlewagon to make a buggy out of a deffkopta... Considering building tracks for front end of wagon or just not building it altogether as I don't really need it unless for APOC.... and try to build truck/buggies/grot tanks out of the parts

Anyone, i'm alive, an update has been made!

Love that... just love it! The planks and all are just too fun.

Thanks Git!! You think they look planky enough???

Was considering highlighting the grain in a blonde color.... loads of work... so many planks.. not sure I want to do it, if this is passable? ha.

I think it looks fine just the way it is. If you really wanted to make it pop you could do a bit of edge highlighting on the upper-most or corner boards... but I wouldn't go beyond that.

i like it! might have to do that... hmmm

If only I didn't need to build 3 more of these... and 2 battlewagons to match... I might spend a little more time on it!
