So, I just watched Event Horizon. I couldn't help but compare it to book #4 of the Horus Heresy series, Flight of the Eisenstein. I won't give any spoilers, but for those who have seen the movie, do you feel like this is a pretty good representation of what could happen in the Warp if unshielded?

It's one possibility, and the nearest Hollywood has gotten to something Warpish IMO. The ship looks like something a CSM would cruise around in anyway , but with less skullz..
The Warp is nothing if not changeable. You can have F-ed up badness happen to you in all sorts of ways, or just get sprayed with cooking oil and curry sauce...

Pretty much.
I mean, I don't know if the writer, or the director, were 40K fans, but that movie was definitely channeling a little bit of the Warp in it.

Certainly how I've always seen it. It's uncanny how well it works.

iirc, Paul W.S. Anderson, the director, was asked if he was a fan of 40k and he said that he wasn't.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.
'She sat on the corner, gulping the soup down, uncaring of the heat of it. They had grown more watery as of late she noted, but she wasn't about to beggar food from the Imperials or the "Bearers of the Word." Tau, despite their faults at least didn't have a kill policy for her race.' |

Come into my web, said the spider to the fly.
Come rest your wings, and let us talk eye to eye.
For I am a spider, and you are the fly. Now that you are here, let us sit, and say hi.
But I have have no morsel to share, nor anything to eat. But wait, what is that stickiness upon your feet.
Ah now I have you, now I can eat. Now I can enjoy you, or store you as meat.
For I am the spider, and you are the fly. How else could it have gone, between one such as you, and one such as I.

I think the original was 'The Philadelphia Project', that's the earliest mention of trans-dimensional travel not ending awesomely that I can remember. And that was 1944.

I do think that it is a good version of chaos. I felt for a long time that the "warmp core room" must be inspiered by warhammer because of all the spikes. It looks a lott like chaos marines.
On a side note, the dark eldar have been handed the "hellraiser" movies with the haemonculy.
