I would like to hear peoples thoughts on CSM Sorcerers; what Marks do you give them, how do you equip them, how do use them, what Disciplines and Powers do you like (including powers from the BRD and Codex), ect.

I've been looking at the 3 Disciplines in the Codex for awhile and I really like the Slaanesh Powers, especially Hysterical Frenzy (for my Berzerkers). Ecstatic Seizures is awesome against Monstrous Creatures. Sensory Overload also works well with my Berzerkers, though I have a question, does the Concussive special rule effect the whole unit or just the models hit? Symphony of Pain is probably my least favorite just because I don't run Noise Marines, but the -1 to WS and BS is still good. Nurle's Powers aren't bad either, although I don't like that you can give an enemy unit Shrouded. Weapon Virus would cause a few wounds on anything with Rapid Fire weapons. Plague Wind and Nurgle's Rot can both put out a lot of Poison shots which is always good, plus Nurgle's Wind is AP2. Tzeentch Powers are probably my least favorite, Boon I don't like at all and Firestorm is ok but the random strength could make it a waste of a shot. Dombolt is not a bad anti-tank power and Breath of Chaos is an awesome AP2 Poison Template that can also take down vehicles.

Right now I like the Slaanesh Sorcerer with my Berzerkers, but there has got to be other ways to run it.

Slaneesh is a good way to go
biomancy is a good discipline
alway take sigil of corruption for that 4++,
termie armor is always good
remember that force weapons are as per model so you get whatever force weapon you want without any additional costs
, also nm are better than zerks and it allows you to run you sorc with the group remember ics with a different mark than the unit cant join them,
if you're facing heavy psyker defence in you meta consider spell familiar and a burning brand or black mace are nasty artefacts
also remember that you can switch out a melee artefact for you bolter and get an off hand strike out of it and will not loose range as you are using a psyker

Didn't realize my Slaanesh Sorcerer couldn't join my Berzerkers, thanks for that info. I like running him Masteryl Lvl 3, MoS, Spell Familliar, and Aura. He's not crazy expensive but does what he's suppose to do. I also love Huron as he can generate one Psychic power each turn.

A for fun crazy expensive sorceror:

MoT
SoC
Spell Familiar
Disc/Termi armour
Burning Brand and Force Weapon/LC & PF
Mastery Level 3
Smite
Psychic Shriek
Whatever-Spell-of-Tzeentch-you-roll/want

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

Huron is cool however sigil is worth that 25 points and the familiar is not worth it unless you take on alot of eldar farseers or tyranids synapse creatures
my sorc i use is 170 pts would be 220 if i went lvl 3 but i also use the black mace on mine which is a 45 point upgrade
but hes also a termie sor and mot with a sigil so very survivable wit a 2+ 3++ however if i wasnt building him for a 1600 list he would be a lvl2 or 3 depending on the situation

I had an idea of one similar:

Sorcerer -240pts
MoT
Sigil
Scrolls of Magnus
Spell Familiar
Disc
Mastery Lvl 3

Very expensive and he does give himself a St3 AP1 hit (has a 4++ tho), but he can fly around doing all kinds of crazy shenanigans.

Smite and Psychic Shriek is a terrible waste of a Level 3. Smite is clearly superior if you're after a Default power but that's another topic.

If you're paying for Terminator Armor it doesn't seem to be worth the points to also take the Sigil of Corruption, especially on a 2 wound model.

It doesnt if hes gonna be staying at a range but this is a melee monkey build i use him for as he is using the black mace and this is more a personal preference as a general rule my dice tend to roll below average so a 4++ isnt as good for me as most

On a CC Sorcerer i would go Terminator Armour, but not a range one, which is what I mostly use.

What Mark do you usually give your sorcerer?

I like level 3 Nurgle sorcerers with one Nurgle and two Biomancy powers.

These disciplines combine together amazingly well.

No matter how you roll, you end up getting good combos.

Works for me anyway.

I can't see putting the mace on a sorcerer when you can take a force axe or staff for free.

you have to replace weapons so you cannot have 4 at the end when you started with only 2.

I think if you wanna use scrolls of Magnus you should be thinking about a bike to half the chance to wound from the scrolls. Then either MoT or put him in a MoS unit with FNP to give you the best chance to save the wound.

If he has MoT he can't join a unit with the FnP icon, right? Scrolls of Magnus is best on a Level 1. The only purpose it has is to try and get Divination powers.

I've heard some rave reviews of unmarked sorcerers with telepathy. Hope to get invisibility but the buffs and debuffs can be big for supporr.

Sorceror w/ bike, mastery lvl 3, spell familiar. I use this as a base. I group him up with nurgle bikers.

Roll all biomancy and hope to get endurance, everything but Haemorrhage is good though.

Endurance gives your T6 bikers FNP and the spell familiar practically guarentees you never fail your psychic tests. With endurance it takes 40 bolter shots or 54 marine cc attacks on average to kill a biker.

You dont need to mark the sorceror, you dont want to roll for nurgle and you get to use T6 untill he's alone. When you get down to one biker and the sorceror and roll 2+ for toughness on Iron Arm both models benefit.

Has anyone tried a slaanesh sorcerer on a Steed? add it to a unit of bikers and outflank to do some damage behind enemy lines.
I like the unmarked biker too, but the ability to outflank seems worth giving him mark of Slaanesh and getting the steed instead.

It's a pretty nice tactic but you really have to commit to a full squad of bikers to make taking the icon cost efficient. With nurgle bikes you can take the minimum of 3. Also bikes dont really need the help going down the battlefield. I'm thinking about oblits or noise marines instead of bikes.

Enfeeble isnt a bad roll either. Though it's a coin flip to get any one power with three tries.

I use a lot of Raptors still and I was thinking of using a Slaanesh Sorcerer, Mastery Level 3 and with Jump Packs, to join my Slaanesh Raptors with Icon of Excess for the FnP. I would run it with a Khorne Lord with Axe of Blind Fury leading a Khorne Raptor squad
