Its very simple guys, vote with your wallet.
GW (in my opinion) are now very overpriced and I cannot justify to myself their costs. Result, I've taken my hobby budget and invested it elsewhere (DUST, Sodapop, Spartan) and now spend as little as possible on GW. MG have stung a lot of customers, I've lost around 150 - 200 worth of store credit (lucky its not 'real' money), so EOTS won't be getting any of my hard earned $$$$. I've now placed my next order with Firestorm Games.
If you want change or don't beleive the morality of certain business's, don't come on a forum and winge about it, vote with your wallet.

More one of business ethics (or lack thereof. Not that great a surprise, as even today, Ethics is not even compulsory subject in a business degree).
Morals apply to humans, not companies (even though they may be owned and/or run by humans) and even then, only if the humans concerned wish to apply them.
Many companies act as the OP mentioned. Many CEOs and boardmembers are also people of very flexible ethics. They may consider themselves "moral" people (and may indeed be hypocrites as well), but they may not see it as something that can apply to the company.
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice - shame on me.
Take your money elsewhere, or do research beforehand. I am not an impulse shopper. I had heard about Wayland and Maelstrom for about a year before I ended up using either of them. For me, the GW embargo prevented much loss from them as they were only used for GW products (as other games don't have the same level of markup here and the savings are barely worth it).
Companies are run by Humans they don't run themselves, create themselves or profit themselves, and it is a Moral Imperative. Same as people who argue Guns Kill people, this is untrue, Humans Kill Humans they just use an efficient Tool (like a Gun) to do so. Guns don't walk around killing people of their own volition.
To further my argument, we all know that Companies in Business go under regularly, but what I have noticed is there seems to be a higher proportion of Gaming Venues and Stores that go under and it seems to be that WORK and PLEASURE dichotomy. When you try and mix the two your Business is severely handicapped. I would almost suggest the best way to go as FLGS owner would be to disengage almost entirely from the Hobby and put on a Solid Business head. It seems to be Over-expansion, or worse running it as a personal gaming fiefdom are both massive problems. The low margins from everyone undercutting each other don't help longterm business stability either.
The thing that really pevs me off, is not the fact that the Business re-launches, it is the fact the previous Owner/Operator gets to start over and we as a Community "Go oh well" and carry on like nothing happened. I'd advocate consumer action in the form (as previously said) of voting with your wallet, I think "Pheonix" Companies are off to a bad start especially if they are bring all the baggage of a previously failed Company (whilst leaving the debts behind).

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest! |

Guns don't kill people - lack of oxygen to the brain kills people...

You don't like the situation?
Then take your wallet elsewhere. Like I said. Most people are just too fething lazy to do this, and thus perpetuate the cycle.
I don't expect morality in business - just like I don't expect morality from a lion before it eats a gazelle.
I expect it in church leaders (but sadly, it is just as lacking there).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Tjis is not a question of morality, but basic business ethics. While it sucks, it happens all the time, games or not.
