I would go with the Squire. Someone else said it better: "for Cygnar, Wyshnalyrr is A+, the only problem is that the Squire is A+++++++++"

Squire. Wishnailer's free upkeep isn't as huge as Squire's bonus.

In a list with a lancer the squire is slightly better if for no other reason than the extended control area, but if you hate the lancer as much as I do and opt to have Stryker himself cast eq directly then Sylys will be more useful.

General Nemo is solidly a squire guy in my opinion. The only spells he really casts are buffs and he loves to run multiple jacks. He gets much more from the control area than a little extra spell range in my opinion.

To me one of the key considerations is how many upkeeps your caster is going to have going.
If the answer is 1 or less then you should probably go with the squire since you can get the one extra focus for three turns.
If the answer is 2 or more go with the elf.

What about with Nemo1? would the squire be better for the extra control range and the 3 turns of extra focus or would the seeker be better for the free upkeep and boosting the attack and damage rolls for chain lightning

Nemo is always a jack caster. He probably helped to build R2 to his specifications.

I understand this stance, but honestly, I'd say the Squire is almost always better. Wyshnalyrr gives a free upkeep every turn, but you can just use the Squire's free focus to pay the upkeep, or use it for something else instead. The Squire's limited amount of focus is to me seems like a non-issue; most games with Cygnar will be over one way or the other by turn 4. One of my most-played opponents plays Cygnar, almost always brings the Squire, and I don't think he's ever run out of Squire focus when it mattered.
Add to that the Squire's other benefits, which beat out Wyshnalyrr's, and I'd reach for the Squire over Wyshnalyrr every time.

R2-D2 is a common nickname for the Squire, thanks to its appearance and ubiquitous nature. In the lore, Nemo is usually the builder of high-tech stuff.
So, the Squire works well with Nemo, and in the fluff he probably helped build it.
