Can the Valk/Vendetta score (in the Scouring mission) in which the flyer in question is modeled normally... The reason I ask is you are supposed to measure distances from the hull of flyers (and skimmers). The flying base suspends the flyer ~5 inches above the ground. So unless I am missing something then the only way a normally modeled valk/vendetta would be able to hold an objective is if it was on a higher level.

Would it be legal to model accordingly to gain the advantage of scoring Valk/Vendettas. Possibly tipping a wing down, the nose down, or the tail down. Or possibly lowering the stand?

It cannot score unless the objective is above ground level

Modelling for advantage? No RULES against it. Opponents could have an issue

Modifying bases has been discussed ad nauseam. Please don't start that one.

I would consider the base to be where you'd measure from. And it would be a lucky shot to get a flyer finessed enough to hit that target objective.

that would be MFA also known as modeling for an advantage which is prohibited

Ok so I would guess that a normally modeled Valk or Vendetta would not be able to score a ground level objective. Hovering makes objective grabbing easier but it would be possible and not too difficult to line up a scoring flyer for a bottom of turn 6 grab, then if turn 7 occurs drop into hover mode.

I will just have to check with my LGS for clarification for league and tourney play. If so I could see myself adding some blue putty to have the flyer modeled in a wide banking turn...

It is only prohibited as an unwritten rule in friendly games, and tournaments will usually have a MFA clause in their rules.

MFA is NOT discussed anywhere in the official rules set, nor are there rules about how you assemble your models aside from requiring them to be on the base they came with.

In most tournament settings yes. There's nothing in the BRB that explicitly prohibits MFA, but it is certainly full of cheese, and will be frowned upon by most human beings.

Woosh87 - hovering has absolutely zero effect on the actual height of the model.

did they take out the MFA thing from the BRB?

I don't believe MFA has ever existed within the rulebook or any codex. Its purely a construction of the tournament setting.

I am aware, I was answering the poster who said that getting a flyer on an objective would be difficult.

I have realized that this discussion is completely off topic now... Does anybody have an answer for my original question?????? Does a NORMALLY modeled Valk/Vendetta have the ability to hold an objective (in the Scouring) as the model is 5 inches off of the table. So basically is there any mention in the BRB about measuring from the base of a flyer in certain circumstances? If not then I feel that you have to measure from the hull. Please stop discussing MFA we all realize it is full of cheese and highly discouraged.

No, although HIWPI is that you would measure from the base.

No, you CANNOT measure from the base except when explicitly told you can with skimmers.

I answered your question in my first post, you just missed it.

Then you would be cheating as the flyer rules dictate otherwise. It sucks, but it's there.

Ok so it is decided then from the hull of the flyer. Thank you!
