Hello friends hobbyist and wargamers!

The name is Dom and exactly a week ago, I bought a Warhammer 40,000 Starter Paint Set at a gamers convention held in my town of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The organizer of the Warhammer booth was so helpful, they also threw in a free copy of White Dwarf as well as an additional 6 generic Space Marines figures for my test-paint.

In a week, I've completed painting all 6 of the (generic & free) Space Marines, all in Dark Angel colours, complete with as much detail as I could muster, limited customization of colours, and complete with a base with brown gravel. I'm experimenting with thickness of varnish and I intend to varnish it lightly tonight!

Next up: I'm about to start of the (more elaborate) 5 Dark Angel Space Marines that came with the Starter Set. I'm already planning on the colour themes to stay consistent with my mini 'army'.

I hope I can learn more from all you Master Painters and Gamers out there!

Thanks for reading guys, and I hope to contribute as much as I can to this amazing forum!

Very clean work. For just starting out you have nice steady brush control. There's some very helpful advice to follow in your thread already that should help you moving forward.

Thank you, Mr. Eldarain, sir!

I realised now that the varnish made the model look slightly muddy! I swear it looks better in the 'flesh' but I don't have a macro camera lens, hence the really low quality shot.. :-(

As others have said really nice paintjob for your first few minis mate, wish mine looked like that when I first started! Looking back at them now I recall using Dulux wall paint

Also welcome to Dakka Dakka!

The advice given by other forum members have been amazing.

I'm now working on having a thinner and more consistent paint job - something along the lines of multi-coats of very thin paint... more pictures will be up soon!

Agreed! By the way, the models I'm painting are still the plastic beginner models! I'm having a blast though! I'm glad I found this forum!

Well, my Unforgiven are certainly dark, but not as vengeful as of yet! Thanks for the encouragement. There is a long long way to go for me, but its all fun so far.
