So I just got a set of 5 assault termies and a landraider godahmmer for my birthday. I've built up the termies with 2 claws and 3 hammers, but now i'm not too sure what to do with the landraider. I haven't touched the box yet but i'm not sure what to do in regards to the loadout. My army is lacking in AA, so i was thinking that maybe the LCs aren't a bad way to go, but it seems counter-intuitive to put 48' guns on my assault vehicle.

So my question would be do I keep the LR Godhammer as an AT to give my army a backbone? Do I swap out the guns and use my termies? Or do i just put my CC termies in my Godhammer?

I'm a fan of the godhammer/phobos ATM. The whole loss of defensive weapons got me down on LRC loadout.

Then again I'm using the LR a bit different than most people, so ymmv.

If you're running TH/SS Terminators the Godhammer is the best IMO, since you don't really need the Assault Grenades from the LRC/LRR.

Thanks for the input. I'll try the godhammer and see how it goes. My thoughts though are if i'm going AA with my land raider i should go full AA and try the version with the whirlwind launcher or the demolisher cannon. Is it worth forcing my termies into a ranged aa tank?

I have been eyeing the Helios and Ares as well, but have not yet tried them out and can't really speak for their effectiveness personally.

One of the reasons I like the rage of the phobos is its range. While the crusader's weapons start coming into range at 24" and optimal range at 12", the phobos has a 96" threat bubble with those 48" lascannons. Even if it gets immobilized it can still reach out and touch something.

You get a safe defensive range, smoke launchers, AV14 and 2 TL Lascannons, you should hope to get at least 1 6... They are the best loadout for 6th now, unless your DS (BA) or outflanking (KKharn)...

I love the crusader. Tons of twin-linked weapons and POTMS to tear a whole in enemy defenses. Then when you hit the brakes, a big squad of troops comes flying out to assault.

Yeah, don't glue the sponsons or the Heavy Bolter. Buy Hurricane sponsons and a TL-AC on the internet. instant profit

I've actually found that sometimes you don't even need magnets for the sponsons if the fit is snug enough.

And the HB and AC are freely rotating anyway.


Anyway, the only real reason to run a Crusader over a Phobes patter is the greater transport capacity. The Phobes has a better armament IMO.

This. Ever since I discovered the wonders of magnets for myself, my wallet and Commanders have been much happier.

As has been said already - you need magnets! (Everything needs magnets!)
Then you don't need to choose - you can try both, and change regularly as wanted. :p

I've just started my CSM (well, I technically bought the first parts for it about 6-9 months ago, and then waited till now to actually start for the DV kit xD) and I've magnetised my Terminator Lords options, my Defiler options, I magnetised the Land Raider (even though it doesn't have options) solely because I couldn't decide whether to put the sponsons at the front, or the back xD. (aswell as magnets in my DE and Tau)

Also - having used Land Raiders before in a borrowed Space Wolves army, I can safely say that Lascannons on an assault vehicle, when that vehicle is a Land Raider is fine. It drops its contents and keeps on plugging.

I really like the Redeemer, AP3 flamers are amazing if you can get close enough and it's a tad cheaper. The Crusader would be my 2nd favourite (and it really benefits from the snap-fire rules), while the Godhammer seems ok.
