During the campaign they released renders of the models you could make. In those renders the models were roughly 38mm in scale as was pointed out repeatedly but Wyrd said that they had corrected the problem, makes me wonder what they changed it to that it came out so poorly that they had to have the models redone.

Hey Wyrd Placians, I figured I'd give you guys a bit more personal touch to the update! Basically, the lack of communication is 100% my fault, and due to a workload which is crazy...of course I caused the crazy workload, so no one to blame but me. Combined with losing a few employees in May who were on this project, along with all the Gen Con prep...lets just say I'm a bit overwhelmed. Again, no one to blame but myself, but I wanted to give you some insight there.

The minis have been a bit of a pain (ok, HUGE pain), as we wanted them to match the most up to date artwork for TTB we started them a bit late. We SHOULD have had plenty of time to get them done still, with months to spare, but that's where the confusions started to arise. First off, the factory we're working with had never done multi-piece/multi-pose minis, and despite their assurances over and over, it took a lot longer to get them to work properly so that arms/heads/weapons/etc... were actually truly swappable. We've finally gotten it all worked out, and then the sizing issue arose. Needless to say, 3 months of buffer time turned into a month late due to these (and a few other speed bumps). So that's the insight!

On the bright side, now we know how to make them happen, and with all the time we've put into them, I think they are going to turn out pretty special!

So the minis weren't/aren't made by WGF...

Also interesting (read: frustrating); that some facebook group page seems to have gotten more information than they deigned to share with the backers.

Telling us that issues were occurring back when they were happening might've alleviated a lot of the frustration and bile that has built up over this project in the last year and a half.

Oh well, as I've said elsewhere, light at the end of the tunnel, etc.

Though, as also noted, "soon" doesn't inspire a ton of confidence.

Has WGF ever done a multi-part kit like those included in this kickstarter?

My experiance with WGF stuff so far is that you get fantastic looking multi-part kits but in the end that kit is only really going to build 1 think in 1 pose.

Would the multi pose stuff really matter for the caster though? I'd imagine its 99% up to the sculptor to make the parts in a way that they are compatitble with eachother.

Catyrpelius: Yes, WGF handled all of DFG's Eisenkern, and those are multi-pose.

We know WGF cut the molds and made the plastics, but who actually designed the spruce itself and configured the figures to be multiple-pose? WGF or DFG?

Both, I think. Mark handed files over, but layout and mould-split was done mostly by WGF. I guess they know their machinery best.

Do you think Wyrd's words could be interpreted to mean that WGF did all the work from A to Z?

Possibly. Wyrd's statement is a little odd but I doubt they went with another plastic company. I guess we'll know once we see the actual sprues.

They've had scale issues with at least one previous plastic kit (once of the rail crew?) that was due to launch at (a) Gencon but had to be pulled as it was too small

(talked about on the D6 Generation podcast in an interview with one of the folk from Wyrd)

Update:

"You should be getting one of these soon! (well, one appropriate to your pledge level). Fully packed this box is just about 10 lbs! Our goal is to see all the boxes shipped by the end of the month, miniatures included.

As a thank you for your patience your box will include some additional miniatures (up to a full Malifaux box set at random), to give you supplies to get your TTB campaign going.

Thanks all!

Eric"

Just saw that: Every time Wyrd poorly delivers, they've ended up doing a really nice job making up for it, be it discounts, free replacements, bonus minis, or swag. Really shows they want to materially recognize their error. Classy.

I'm going to reserve judgement until they actually deliver, but it's nice to finally (FINALLY) see some real progress towards ending this running gag.

... except I'll be in for at least another month or three until the hardcovers come in. But that I can wait on with significantly greater patience.

Am I wrong in how I am reading this? It seems to imply that the multipose kits are not going to ship with the rest (possibly at all)?

"Our goal is to see all the boxes shipped by the end of the month, miniatures included."

Leads me to think they're referring to the MPMs being included.

They went on to specify in the comments that the hardcover hadn't arrived, and would go out in a second shipment.

Note: I'm aware of the folly that is assuming things when it comes to Wyrd, but that's what my read is so far.

And given that I'm going to be waiting on a hardcover anyway, whether the MPMs come to me with the first shipment or the second isn't likely to make much of a difference.

Honestly, given the reference to including alternate miniatures, I wouldn't be completely sure that isn't a technical way out ("we never said which miniatures").

That may be overly cynical, but I just don't know how this thing can be shipped when there have not been any pictures of the MPMs. Unless I missed them?

Not since the renders months ago.

I look at it this way; they say they're sending out the hardcovers, which is the Living Room and Gaming Room tiers. If they're missing the MPMs, they're sending out a second wave for the Dining Rooms too, or around 80% of the boxes that are going out.

Difference is sending out 2,300 packages versus sending out 2,700+.

400 packages by FedEx has gotta add up to "dude, just wait another month, feth 'em, they'll bitch either way".

Because that's the way Wyrd does things?

I wouldn't get too hung up on the lack of pictures. We need to wait for reports from people who receive their boxes and then make the decision to cheer or scream.

Nearly 2 weeks later, only person that has reported getting their stuff is an Aussie who'll be at Gencon so they shipped him his books for the demo.

Which apparently he's not planning to lug around for a 2 month trip, so he's leaving them at home and will be running games with the pdfs and his own memory.

Good use of time and resources there, chaps. >.>

Success, I get a chance to run it from the pdfs with my gaming group. Character creation is a go on Saturday.

Agreed, and yet flies in the face of them managing to ship a package to Australia in 8 days. Assuming they managed to get everything out by Friday, those boxes should start arriving at homes around the world this week.

Unless they cheaped out on shipping, or are actually waiting for the Hardcovers to come in (as I fear), or... I dunno, just can't be arsed to do it.

I mean, it's been two and a half weeks since they flat out told us they were starting to package things up. They estimated that it would take them a week to do so when they addressed the matter earlier this year, and even if we're generous and assume it took 2, I have to imagine they want that crap out of the warehouse and for the shipping staff to get some downtime before Gencon errupts which is in a week and a half itself.

Ugh. It'd be nice if they dropped us a heads up as to what is going on, but let's face it, they probably aren't going to say squat that isn't related to pimping Gencon at this point.

Isn't Wyrd (in)famous for starting to chug after Gen Con anyway? Or is that another company. Because if it is, you guys could well be waiting a good while afterwards as well.

If I recall correctly, Wyrd takes a little bit (I'd estimate 1.5 - 2 weeks) to get everything set after Gencon, then everything goes out and they are back on track.

I think that they have gotten a lot of bad publicity over what was basically a perfect storm against them (switching warehouses + Kickstarter quality issues + Gencon).

GenCon has always been a terrible time for Wyrd, at least since I started following them after the 2011 GenCon. It generally takes them closer to a month to get the shipments out since their entire staff gathers in Indy for the show. So orders for con exclusives build up during the week long span of the show and then they attempt to get regular shipments and GenCon shipments out the door. It doesn't surprise anyone on Wyrd's boards when people haven't gotten stuff by the middle of October.

If they're not out by GenCon (which starts in 9 days...) then we probably won't see anything till September.

I wish I could say that I empathize, but if they'd dealt with this all, I dunno, last year when they were supposed to, or in Q1, or hell in Q2, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

They flat out admit that they waited too long on the MPMs, and their factory took longer than anticipated and it held the whole thing up. Kudos for admitting where they fethed up, but 'omg Gencon is such a tough time' isn't our fault, and places all the more onus on them because they know it's a rough time for them.

It's not like this crept up on anyone.

Warehouse space comes at a premium, other costs may have been incurred, but they chose not to err on the side of caution, and here we are.

And yes, from watching Gencon 2012 develop, July through September were tough months for them, between prep for GC and participating and the whole damned office getting the 'con crud' and that slowing things down and then being weeks behind in shipping gak out.

I feel like I have a better grasp of the realities of their business model than they do at this point, which is easy to armchair quarterback when I don't have the full picture, but that's mostly because they've failed to provide us with the full picture for the last year and a half.
