So now that they are getting out to backers, I may find it easier to run my game soon. Fingers crossed!

Also, we have a criminal and a graverobber so far, 2 players yet to put their fated together. I can see where this is going...

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Woot, I got my box today at long last ! And before GenCon too

The little "Thanks" message to the Kickstarter backers are a nice touch, especially since it came with a "No Shelter Here" Pandora starter

I've been reading the book, and I've dug out a couple of my figs that I'd thrown in the box. Got some giant rats, and a couple of Ronin, as well as the Victoria's.

Players book has so much more information on the game that it fits in very well with the fiction in the other books. The character process is sweet. Only thing left for you is to set up your own crew and play it out on the tabletop. Not a big fan of the multipart figures, they seem a little... off. The add on factioonals have some great possibilities as contacts, or antagonists.

Fatemaster book is a good start.

Both books need some more proofreading, but not as bad as they did when they were free downloads.

All in al, as much as Wyrd ticked me off, the game really has some possibilities.

My pledge package looks identical to the picture. No Shelter Here is my box, as well. I'm looking back at the V2 of the game. I might have to go on ahead and give it another go, if for anything to use the figures in the cowboys vs cthuhlu stuff coming out from Flying Frog.

Book turned out a little better then I expected, seeing as they dicked up the communication and follow-through on the play testing.

We took it in stride, what else were we going to do? It's not like they aren't already late. France is almost completely shut down right now. My borough of Montreal as well, by extention.

I was going to use those minis for Inquisitorial retinues... but seeing as that won't pan out most probably... I'll just get them to sigh at and then hope I can use them later. After GenCon would be dandy, honestly. As long as they hit retail, period.

Well, at least people are getting their stuff. Hopefully I'll be seeing mine before too long. If they shipped these alphabetically, I could be waiting a while though. :(

There's *no* bestiary or some people mistakenly didn't receive it?

It is a separate book?

Or a 'stretch goal' section that wasn't reached?

I'm confused...

Got mine today. About 1 hour outside Toronto.
Came FedEx with no charges.

Got the Sonia box, which is the one that I wanted. Can't open it all until later as I'm doing a reno job now.

If anyone else is going to GenCon, I will have my pitchfork and my flaming torch... I'm fairly certain that I'm not going to have my stuff before GenCon... so... they're most likely going to be selling Through the Breach at GenCon while there are some backers still out in the cold waiting for their stuff...

There is a base section in the Fatemasters guide. ( One of the issues with the proofreading I was alluding to. One issue with the book- it wasn't written by someone of the caliber that FFG pays for their stuff.)

It isn't clear-cut, but it starts on page 119 to 207 and it is not written consistently. some have art, some don't. Some have a half a paragraph blurb, some have a page or two. The art is good when you get it, but not all of the beasts have pictures.

For as much space in the fatemasters book, they could have removed the beasts and given them their own book, and spent a little more time on fleshing out the concept work that they have through the manual. If they would try doing what D and D did with their book, and added more charts, card graphs, and even NPC generation space, they would have done a little better then the product so far.

It's not a bad book, but it could have been better for all of the delay and information out there on the game now.

Some of the stuff in there, I just want to rip out and rewrite my own to fit the bill.

I was hoping they would have some floor plans, some more info on the burgs then was already out there and rehashed no more then three times throughout the books, and already available. The do not talk about the new crews, they do not go into older material anymore then players already have read through in the previous books. If you have the other Malfaux books, you can do better by using what they have available in them.

A game of this caliber honestly needs a living rulebook/ fatemaster rulebook. It is written as all of the books are with snippets and discussions from the characters in games perspective, and man on the street types.

If you want some extra figs to use for character fodder- REAPERS steampunk figures and a few of their monsters would really fill what you need. I'm gathering up some giant and colossal rats, as well as some of their Steampunk characters, weremonsters, and other odds and ends that will do in a pinch, as well as double over when I get the flying frog board game.

The book is a good start, but I'll really be waiting for V2, when it comes out. there is a lot of room that this game and the books need to cover that hasn't even been touched yet...

Pretty sure their lead designer actually worked heavily on the 40kRPG systems, though wyrd hasn't had the best editing history.

Yes, I want my stuff but I'm not going to hold that against them. Not having product at GenCon is just silly.

Just got my cache of wyrd goodness. I was in for the dining room pledge... open graves as bonus box - very nice. The multi-pose minis are great. Can't moan about Miss, Santana and Hannah either! The fatemasters kit is very chunky too (open it later)

No- I hadn't even heard he had. That's rough, wondering how the game will go with one of the main writers gone even before it's publicly available.

Funny is that FedEx apparently holds packages for 5 business days.

I'm out of town all week on business.

Depending on when they ship things back and when it came in, there's a non-zero chance it'll be sent back to them through no fault of mine.

That'd be fun.

Maybe I'm wrong, but he was such a part of the outward communication for so long and now you never hear from him and Nathan (or Eric) mentioned that they lost some people who were on the project and that contributed to the delays.

Like I said, I may be wrong, but I'm curious what he's up to now.

If That guy left, that is going to explain a lot.

Problem is that this is fried gold if they do it right, and actually stick a good team on it for awhile to give it some love. if not, this was a waste of time, and my first impression on them using to funding for V2, and giving us a turd-stick was apparently correct.

The RPG is simply too large a piece of work to only five and dime it. There are a lot of quality things that the game has, and a lot of info in there that just outright seems dropped in as filler.

As of now though, I've read through enough of it that I'd actually like to see a couple of modules, and see if this world could take a little more shaping, and give us some good material to not have to work that much harder for it. To me, its bad enough that the fan boy base on their forum is half stepping and kowtowing to ego. Its pretty much another that they have a pretty good idea and are letting it die on the vine while they pee in the fan bases face and say that its rain.

My impression right now is that the game is in its rough stages, and Fatemasters and players are going to have to work for it. If you run a concept, and use some stuff like Maltese Soulstone, or Fistful of Corpses, or the Quick and the Undead, you have yourself a basic overview of an adventure, and you can fill in the details with.

That's one of the charms of the game, to me. You can pretty much develop a easy concept and then put meat on the bones fairly simply, much to my surprise that the designers keep messing around with the game to the point that they are at right now.

Card concept stays the same. You use your own "Character, and they evolve from simple get off the train and see what's going on, and go through some adventures, as well as being able to use the figures and your V2 game to play out some of the encounters and interact with some of the crews. As of now, the Resurectionists, and the Guilders are some of the major factors in the game right now. the way that they are spun, your going to be going through a couple of iterations for your character as they walk that long road.

Those of you who have the game, what do you think so far?

Are the sprues rather generic, or are there ways to identify your "character" with other factions too? I'm thinking Ten Thunders and Neverborn, mainly. Gremlins I'm assuming can be well served by the plethora of crews coming out soon?

Edit: Hmm come to think of it, wasn't Mack going to be writing the "Penny Dreadfuls" post-release content?

Okay, my stuff arrived today so that's essentially one more kickstarter I can stop worrying about. I went the figure route as I don't really do RPG stuff so I'm not worried about the delay on the books.

The TtB stuff available through their online store during Gen Con, will that be available after Gen Con? Or is it only during then con then available again in a few months, sort of like a con exclusive?

They will be available at some point after the Gencon but Wyrd does not reveal the dates in which this happens. Nonetheless the earliest things will become available is end of September (~26th) but may be as late as January of February next year. Depends where stock production is currently
