ADB: I showed the Wolves revealing the key weakness at the heart of the World Eaters; showing Angron that his Legion was broken and worthless compared to the others; that he was the one primarch who couldn't trust his own warriors, and that they didn't care if he lived or died; showing that loyalty to brothers and sons is the heart of success for the Legiones Astartes, to the point even Lorgar makes a big deal out of saying the World Eaters and their primarch were massively outclassed by Russ, and Angron was too stupid to see the lesson Russ had sacrificed time, sweat, and blood, to teach. We're talking about a battle the Wolves won, by isolating the enemy general through pack tactics, and threatening to kill him, without a hope of defending himself. It was a balance, 50/50 - Angron overpowered Russ, and the Wolves were losing ground to the World Eaters; but Russ and his warriors had Angron by the balls, and barely broke a sweat. They won, no question. Lorgar even says: "The Wolves won, meathead."

Dorn won’t help you either. He’s too busy being the Emperor’s groundskeeper, hiding behind the palace walls. The Wolf is too busy cutting off heads as our father’s executioner, while the Lion holds on to his secrets, and has no special fondness for you. Who else will come? Not Ferrus, certainly. Nor Corax either. Even as we speak, I suspect he flees for Deliverance. Sanguinius?’ Curze laughed cruelly. ‘The angel is more cursed than I. The Khan? He does not wish to be found. So who is left? Lexicanum. Well the guy is half-right. It's actually that Wolf priest instead. Logan was prepared to make a second heresy, but the Priest talked him down. Still very few Inquisitors are friendly with the Space Wolves chapter.

Khm, guys you did read "Emperor's gift "??? After Armaggedon, Inquisition can't be near Fenris area or it would start second civil war ...and Bjorn cooled down Logan on his rampage...
Inquistion only did scheme about their gene-seed after, which that GK hated,,,

Bjorn is the Dreadnaught not the Priest, I think Bjorn slept during Armageddon's first war. It was Ulrik the Slayer that calmed down Logan. Amazing how people manage to mistake this extremely simple fact as it's common knowledge. If not him it was Njal Stormcaller, what it was not was the Dreadnaught which likely was as mentioned asleep.

Dude you haven't read "Emperor gift" - No offence I'm a long time SW player and I've read all SW books,so I' strongly recommend you do that...

I was oddly half-right. Bjorn was asleep during the first war, but then awoken for calming down Lorgar. Is the book a recent thingy? I was all but certain Ulrik was the calmer down.

I have actually the Space Wolves as my favorite chapter, but they sort of are vikings which of course interest me.

I must admit I don't read much about any Space Marines, as it's basically like watching a Hulk Hogan or John Cena-match at wrestling. The main recipe is: Hero struggling a bit in the first and middle stages, then he completely curb-stomps the enemy at the end. If I want that I get a Superman or Batman-movie or comic. Or I watch WWE, though that walrus-like Space Wolf appealed to me.

Raven Guard as well, as I just remembered. Kayvaan Srhike is said to visit worlds not hwere the Imperial generals bessech him for help, but worlds that have been forgotten and where there is no help, and guardsman fighting against orks pray for intervention.

That's pretty cool.

By bolter and honour, by blood and fire, we shall cleanse this galaxy. By Vulkan, and by the Emperor, CHARGE!

Yo Dawgs, I heard you like grimdark, so I put grimdark in yo grimdark in yo grimdark in yo universe that is obviously grimdark.

Least caring has to be pre-heresy Alpha Legion. They are very much in the 'Chaotic Good' D&D category when it comes to the human race.

Salamanders and Space Wolves are two prime examples of SM actually showing sympathy towards humans.

The SW showed this when they intervened on the people of Armageddon's behalf when the people were being put into forced labor camps and its IG units being boarded and destroyed by GK.
Salamanders, as others have mentioned showed in the 2nd and 3rd wars of Armageddon they fought for the people of Armageddon.

As for a least caring legion or chapter, my bet is on pre-heresy Night Lords, in the NL series the main character Talos returns to Nostramo and his mother recognizes him at the Legion's return parade and rushes into the NL parade march to talk to him, he does not even recognize his own mother and feels nothing when she is executed moments later, his battle brother then tells him it was his mother, still nothing. Also the fact they slaughter untold amounts to make the others bow in fear.
