Hi all

I have added some new products that might be of interest to Infinity players: a site office (for the containers) and security fencing (scroll down)

Kind regards
Neal

Some time ago someone posted a link to some containers I had done here (in this thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/487623.page)

I got some comments about these containers along the lines that they looked good but were too small for Infinity.

I have made a second version with the containers slightly bigger. The old ones were 41mm square and these ones are 44mm square... it does not sound a lot but they are noticeably bigger.

I have send one of these containers to someone who plays infinity asking him to build it and provide feedback (and hopefully he will do so here) as I have no infinity figures and don't play the game.

For now, the link to the product on the website is here: http://www.lasercutcard.co.za/scenery/shipping-container-30mm

I sell them in sets of 3 for $10.64 and postage worldwide is $3.14

If you have any questions, please ask.

Kind regards
Neal

Totally forgot to mention (although it is apparent in the pictures) that these Infinity scale ones can be assembled with one of the doors open. The original ones don't do this.

Wow I reallllly like that fencing and the office site could work great for a board I'm doing. If I had the cash available I'd totally impulse buy.

These are dirt cheap, something like 4US$ per container. I'm waiting for mine to arrive in the post so I can do a review.

This would be great for the construction yard I want to do on my board. Will definitely pick some up soon.

Here's my long overdue review. Sorry! These only arrived just as I was leaving for holidays!

The package came as a small set of A5-sized pieces of card, complete with nice burnt card smell . Construction is very straightforward: you build the central box then simply add walls to it. First the "grating," then the exterior girder pieces. Each section has a small corresponding symbol to help you orient everything. Simple enough to build without looking at the instructions eh?

The central core is made by a single, solid box, which gives the model great strength once the overlying layers are added.

Well, I got too clever and mistakenly placed a fold where it shouldn't have been. It should have been tucked right in. As a result, the central box was not perfectly square. Oh well.

Despite my best efforts to it up, it still managed to come out looking good. It is also surprisingly strong. I tested it with the Paradiso campaign book and a 2 litre coke and it came out fine. Most home-made terrain would just disintegrate under that load.

Scale-wise, it fits fine for 28mm, especially if you think that the scenery should be a little smaller than otherwise to indicate ground scale.

A couple of small niggles. The container door doesn't bend nicely... it sort of crinkles halfway at the back and needs a firm finger to keep the whole door from warping. I think a couple of full thickness cuts made to the hinges would help immeasurably. Being card, these are rather light so I would recommend either gluing them down to a base or adding some weights inside to keep them from being shifted during play.

On the whole, I am suitably impressed. I showed some finished containers (including the terminal) to the lads and lasses at my local club, who were also quite positive about them..Neal Crankshaw's bulk deal means that we will definitely be getting a few more of these to fill our Ambush Z / Infinity / Necromunda tables.

Looks: 7/10
Whilst not an awesomely detailed sci-fi resin piece nor skull-encrusted ruins, it is generic enough to use in almost any setting from late 20th century to 40K. The layered panels also add an element of depth not seen with most other laser-cut products.

Utility: 9/10
Useful for a wide range of eras and environments. The only way you can get more generic is rocks and trees! They totally block LOS which is important for Infinity as well as other skirmish rules. They are a *little* small for Infinity,

Sturdiness: 9/10
While I wouldn't risk standing on it, it can take the weight of my heaviest pewter and laugh for more.

Value for money: 9/10
Difficult to argue with about R30 each. Only scratchbuilt is cheaper and I am too lazy/inept. The value bundle is only better.

Overall: 8.5/10
A nice way to fill up a board, add scatter terrain or make a container depot for objectives.

These look good, and very reasonable price! Will have to sub out the cardboard crates I have at some point and these look like they would be ideal.

I think the cricket bat guy is from Hasslefree (but not for a game). He's just a homage to a certain English zombie-rom-com character.
