Hey peeps, I'm just posting up here because I'm really really wanting to get an airbrush and start learning to make use of them. I however know absolutely nothing about them.

The main things I'm looking to use it for areeee Undercoating, OSL and gradiant/power weapon effects and the likes. I'm not overly fussed about doing fine detail with an airbrush as I can paint! But as I said I really don't even know where to start looking, some names and info would be really helpful thanks ^^

hmm... your gonna get a lot of varying responses to this... my personal experience is get a more then half decent compressor with an airtank and a cheap starter airbrush... once you get the hang of airbrushing and want to branch out you can buy a better airbrush which will work perfectly with your then current compressor... i suggest looking at badger, iwata or harder & steenback.... and my personal favorites are badger and harder & steenback, iwata is great, but the other 2 are just a little bit more refined

iv only ever had an iwata HPCS.

that said it was cheap, only around 70 bucks i think? and it does a great job.

i left it on the table and my pets ran around, caught onto the hose and sent it flying. dropped it with the back part off on many different occassions, directly onto the needle on a hard floor. it jammed the needle up into the cone, widening it. i bent the needle tip, not sure how but i did. i used a scalpel to try to smooth out the burs i created on both needle and cone. after i finish whatever im doing i throw it in a tub of simple green and leave it there for days on end. basically iv beat the hell out of it for the last year and a half+.

.. and somehow it still works great lol

my biggest fear is dropping a little part down the sink. that would be game over. so be careful.

i find one of the biggest factors is the paint youre spraying. citadel sprays like perfection and sticks amazingly well even when thinned way down. on the other end, iv had some really frustrating days trying to spray vallejo

Go to the cooking supply section of the local Wal mart or equivalent, get one of those mesh wire strainers and put it in the drain of your sink. It should prevent anything from the airbrush getting through while still allowing the water to drain.
