As far to the east you can get without being in Canada.

I just thought of something funny. With the high challenge level of this game, and lots of bad luck, all your survivors might end up dead in the first monster encounter, never reaching the Settlement. I think I'm going to like this game.

For those that are considering the Soda Pop special pinup, the following was posted in the comments section of the Relic Knights update:

SPM_Deke about 15 hours ago

As a cross post from the KD comments section:

For those of you wondering which faction this Darkspace Candy version will work for in Relic Knights; we're currently leaning towards Noh Empire, as a captured slave forced to battle for them. The rules are in progress though, so feel free to offer suggestions.

Quick question lads: I'm trying to cut my order down and I'm looking for stuff that is either a really good deal or won't be available post-KS. I have the Dragon King, Soda Pop and Messenger chicks and I'm thinking of adding in Nico but if she will be available normally I'm not that pushed. As it stands I'm at €180 thanks to jumping in with 2 buddies to keep shipping costs down.

I'm really tempted to get the King set (King, Scribe and 2 Hunters is about $100) but then I'm cracking €200 and risking the wrath of the missus. Any help is appreciated.

Well, while proportionally the dragon king is one of the best deals, the actual discount is only average compared to the other big kits, so if you need to drop something, that's what I'd leave out.

Adam & Anna Explorers of Death are KS exclusive (and included in survivor level pledges in plastic)

the 'Bulk' armour kit deals of 1 kit for $25 or 5 for $50 are KS exclusive (although the kits will be available with the game/appropriate expansion)

Candy & Cola and The Messenger of Courage are not going to go on general sale but will probably pop up at conventions

Nico is going to be tricky to get post KS as she won't go on general release (although she may pop up again at Xmas at the KD webstore and CMON)

All the pinups and other expansions should be available after the KS (although at the moment it seems they may only get limited distribution to retailers already stocking KD products and selected shops Adam can deal with personally)

What do you mean by only average? It's a $60 kit going for $30 compared to $40-45 for the others so that looks pretty sweet. Or am I missing something?

Edit: Thanks for the post Orlando - I'm thinking that if something will be hard to get in the States post-KS then it'll be nigh-impossible to get outside the States.

Dragon is $30/60--->$30 off
Gorm is $40/78--->$38 off
SunStalker is $45/70-->$25 off
Spi...etc is $40/65--->$25 off

the dragon is right in the middle of the monster/armor combos, regarding how much actual discount it has vs. retail, so it's not very urgent

@SpiralingC: Thanks for that, man.

I was going to pledge for the Gorm but it was the first thing I cut as I'm not entirely sold on the model. He's like Marmite - you either love him or hate him. The Sunstalker is the same and Spidey loses out as the other sets have more cards and expand things more but I've no problem getting him at a later date even at a higher price. As I've said, I'm in with 2 buddies so I can get Manhunter and Lion Knight at a huge discount now so that makes up for it.

NP, Stormy!

Personally, due to my budget, I'm only getting one armor-monster combo, so I'm picking up the Sunstalker, because it's got my favorite armor style.

Re: the Gorm, I think it's fine, but (as above) think the Sunstalker's got the coolest armor and the spider has the coolest monster, so, yeah, maybe some day if I get tired of the KD pieces I have, but there's a long queue of cool minis...

where did you get your rrps?

Gorm 40/60 http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/poots/kingdom-death-monster/posts/364105
Making the dragon the best saving, unless i missed something.

With gorm you get the pinup rather than the human form dragon king, i guess if all dragon king expansions come with this on release then gorm is the best value though.

Yep, was referencing the pinup, and I think it was at least implied that the dragon king set would include the human form?

not just implied, the update that added it states it's added to the expansion.

Don't forget the human form of the dragon got added by a later stretch goal, not sure if that's included in the $60 MSRP number that was listed originally.

OK, I've decided to drop out of this one. A combination of the reasons I noted earlier and the fact that the game as displayed doesn't really appeal to me - I already have MMOs and Console games for this "style" of game in SP and MP where the CPU takes care of the bookwork. I'm also turned off a bit by the "limited" nature of the armour kits if you don't buy them now - especially for a "Necromunda" style game that seems to be all about building and rebuilding your models. Making them limited makes no sense to me. Above all is the cost though - I can ignore a game I'm not that interested in if the models are good enough and well priced enough, especially if I can also see them doing multi-game use (like Sedition Wars). The scale difference here puts that out. Survivor seems to have been bumped by the $300 level.

Ultimately though, since we're looking at $2-500 kind of money for a game a year away, I'm going to buy a dishwasher for my new house instead. If there are any of these I really like in a year's time, I can pick them up individually...

I'm going to drop out of my
Pledge $140 - Black Friday Launch Special Round 6! - Survivor

at 2am GMT (1hr from now) - hope another Dakka-ite can grab it and save a couple of dollars!

In my house, it's the opposite

It is a point, though I know it's not deterring many here! (about spending 2-500 a year in advance for a board game).

This looks to eclipse 1.5K easily!

Adam's pretty much already said "no more freebies" with the $1.2m Green Armour kits (looks like 2 figures, but might be 4 based on previous armour kits). They were for $300 herald pledges, too - ain't no more for those pitiful $150 Savior pledges..

My my, is this the much expected male pin-up? Who's to say...

1.3 Mil, My Pants Will Never Be the Same!!!!!!!!!!!
Update #47 · Jan. 06, 2013 · 6 comments

We have reached 1.3 million in pledges!

I've slept, showered, shaved and am sitting here in one of my nicer dress shirts ready to get all fancy for the next 43 hours!

We have unlocked the Messenger of The Spiral Path, a promotional miniature that will only be available thru this kickstarter and future Kingdom Death special events! This Messenger discovered what he calls the Spiral Path, a mental course that let's him see the Truth. Perhaps this man has taken his first few steps to becoming a Forsaker?

You can add The Messenger of The Spiral Path to your rewards by adding +$15 to your pledge.He will come with a one-shot challenge scenario, a promo gear card and a promo hunt and settlement event card.

I have also added the Gorm Armor Miniature Kit as an option for those that want to pledge for additional sets. The set will make 4 miniatures ( 2 male and 2 female ) and I've also included a 5 pack, which has enough parts to make 20 miniatures! The kits also include the Gorm weapons, including the Black Sword.

I've set the next goal at 1,350,000 !

Thank you everybody!

Budget? Whats that?

I didn't even put two and two together as to why I thought this looked familiar. It does look like a tabletop MMO.

Serious as a heart attack, I really want in, but every time I try to put the order together, I'm at around 600-800 for the total. sans pin ups.

I like pin ups as much as the next guy, but from a potential of keeping this game going, are these armor sets going to be sold as sprues, additional boxed sets, or available later?

I can see guys I play with playing with three or four survivors apiece. potentially playing with four or more players per session. There are honestly not enough basic guys to begin with, you'd almost HAVE to have the fifty buck sets to keep the game going.

How many models are on the board at the same time?

Is one person supposed to be one of the survivors, or is it four per player and a settlement for each guy?

When you move out past "guy with loincloth/ lantern", what happens to the expansions with the sunstalker, the dragon king- lion king, where your settlement automaticly goes these armors?

basicly your going to then end up starting the game pretty much out gunning other potential different settlements who, even getting to that point- are going to get owned and not in a good way.

I note that we are seeing all of these additional threats, and expansions. What then, exactly is a "Starting survivor" going to look like right out of the gate with these expansions? they sure won't have "Lantern/ piece of stick/ loincloth" things going on.

heck, even at that point, your first monsters going to get pawned by not even looking at it. What they end up doing then will be "Jumping the shark" and having to go full on slow with the larger monsters, because the smaller ones end up being nusance diversions.

When we are talking settlements, what is the end game for a settlement? are they supposed to end up being aligned with one side or another? are they maluable to the whims of these king types?
When do they then end up going out and hunting down and enslaving additional settlements?

Will you then have to revert to becoming "Monsters" in thier own right, while they run around finding and hunting down survivors as potential prey or converts?

I mean, gak. The potential for this game is overwhelming. Not nessesarily a bad thing, but I'm within the realm of throwing down 6-800. not even including future products.

what exactly is the meta game direction for this product/ game system?
