Hi All

I'll be starting my first army soon by buying the space wolves battle force box

Does anyone know how possible it would be to convert one of the figures in the box into a rune priest with runic armor? And any guides on how to do this?

Realize that this may be very simple & obvious but i've never even built a GW mini never mind about converted them so thought i'd ask

Thanks

I have never done this specific conversion but looking at the pictures from games workshops website this is what i would do:

1. Grab the legs, torso front and torso backside with the most runes and pelts/fur on it together for the main body.
2. Sculpt power cables with green stuff on the torso representing the psychic hood
3. Decorate him up with lots of additional decoration parts and choose the coolest looking shoulders and head for him.

For creating a psychic hood you can look into this article: http://fromthewarp.blogspot.de/2011/01/modeling-power-cables.html
There is also a nice example picture. It's not a space wolfs model but the principles are mostly the same. So the hardest part is probably the creation of the psychic hood power cables.

The guy on the right is my wolf priest / rune priest made just out of the wolf pack box.

The runic weapon was made out of the axe weapon. You just need to cut the hand off the shaft (reglueing the head back on) and cut the wrist so you can rotate the axe so he is pointing it up instead of across his body.

The nice part about a rune priest is that you don't have to even sculpt the psychic hood as they don't even have one on the official rune priest model. Their runic weapon is supposed to take care of all of that.

You can make a pyschic hood quite easily from a Marine shoulder pad using a circular file if you wanted to.

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"

I Quite like the sounds of this

Any tips / advice for what decorative parts to use

Jayden63 - Really like the look of that mini =)

So rune priest dont need the hoods - thats good, i prefer the look of the modle without them
