Hey, this is my first imperial guard list. I have decided to go Catachans, and comments and criticism would be good thanks.

Company command squad/ 2 melta guns – 70
Marbo – 65

Infantry platoon (330)
Platoon command squad/ 4 plasma guns – 90
Infantry squad/ flamer – 55
Infantry squad/flamer – 55
Infantry squad/ flamer - 55
Heavy weapons team/ 3 autocannons – 75

Infantry platoon (255)
Platoon command squad/ 4 plasma guns – 90
Infantry squad/ flamer - 55
Infantry squad/ flamer - 55
Infantry squad/ flamer - 55

Vendetta gunship - 130
Leman Russ battle tank - 150

I was keeping the theme pretty much all footslogging and wasn't sure if i should put a unit in the vendetta. Are the platoons outfitted right? any replies are welcome.

The Twilight Zone

The skeleton looks fine, but you seriously lack long ranged firepower. Throw in some autocannons/lascannons/missile launchers on those infantry squads. 1 squad of 3 autocannons wont really cut it.

If you are dead set on advancing the squads forward in a blob wall, get grenade launchers instead of flamethrowers.

Might want to consider a heavy weapon for the CCS, and a regimental standard.

Vendetta is fine empty, if you think you need some mobile drop troops an infantary squad with a flamer could go in there.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

thanks for the reply, I have redone the list trimming down on both platoons and adding a Medusa, I wasn't sure if i should put bastion breacher shells on it or not. The reason for the flamers is that im going Catachan and the kit comes with only flamers and I like the fluff of them. Im not too sold on the regimental standard but a lascannon could go nice in the ccs.
Here is the revised list.

Company command squad/ 2 melta guns – 70
Marbo – 65

Infantry platoon (260)
Platoon command squad/ 3 plasma guns – 75
Infantry squad/ flamer – 55
Infantry squad/flamer – 55
Heavy weapons team/ 3 autocannons – 75

Infantry platoon (185)
Platoon command squad/ 3 plasma guns – 75
Infantry squad/ flamer - 55
Infantry squad/ flamer - 55

Vendetta gunship – 130
Medusa/ bastion breacher shells - 140
Leman Russ battle tank - 150

Better. Could still use some better guns for the infantry, though.

Also, I'd seriously consider dropping the flier, the artillery piece, and the tank and replacing it with three of the same thing.

I find for command squads either Company or Platoon that if they have special weapons there better in chimeras where if there on foot its better to give them heavy weapons.

The best options are either a Lascannon or an Autocannon with the Missile Launcher being good but not as good. The idea is to give them a lot of range and make your oponent have to move towards your infantry squads, vets or anything else with shorter range in order to deal with the longer range threat then you can destroy them.

So would you recommend dropping the heavy weapons team and mix them into the ccs / pcs.
About dropping the flier, tank and artillery what would you recommend to replace the three, I like all 3 pieces but i see what you mean. maybe two Leman russes and one vendetta? but then I would lack the long range again.

It depends on the size of the table your playing on if your playing on a small table drop the flyers there too fast to be of any use. If your on a big table keep the vedetta or 2 or.3. The tricky part of playing 1000pt lists or smaller is that every flyer you take mean less on the table to shoot or be shot at.

For a small table Demolishers are the bomb take 3 for bigger tables take somthing with more range. Manticores are fantastic and when you a 3 for your D3 shots your opoonent will almost cry. Exterminators with full Heavy Bolters ate also good in 6th as they offer some long range anti transport, flyer and horde plus they are tough to kill. The Excutioner is also a fantastic tank just be careful though because it can sink points really fast

Instead of having separate heavy weapons teams. I would suggest jamming in heavy weapons into your infantry squads. They will be more survivable that way. Now you can even snap shoot if you decide to move. Also, I think the plasma guns are a waste on the PCS. There are only 5 of them and they have BS 3. So you're spending more points on the weapon upgrades than the squad is worth and they're not even very good with hitting things. Plus they are easy to kill to neutralize all their plasma killing power. Perhaps give the plasma guns to your infantry squads and the flamers to the pcs. If someone gets close to your lines, your pcs can run out and flame them. Or deal with deep strikers.

I think at 1000 points, one flier is a good idea. You can deal with other fliers or get shots at rear armor thanks to outflank on the vendetta. The medusa is not that great though. It's on too much of a fragile platform for such a dangerous weapon. Your opponent will look to blow it off the board early. Perhaps you can get another leman russ for some av 14 redundacy. Or another vendetta.

Thanks for the replys, I have had added heavy weapons into the infantry squads and the ccs and switched some assault weapons around. I added a demolisher instead of the medusa.
