You can take a Servitor unit for a Techmarine on a TFC, but he can't join them until the Cannon is destroyed.
Servitors kinda function like Command Squads for Techmarines. Its a seperate unit you can take for every Techmarine or MotF in your army that doesn't take up any FoC slots.

They can take them, just can't join them.
The servitor entry states you can take a unit of servitors for every techmarine in your list, well not word for word but essentially.

Hmm, how would that work out, perhaps put the ablatives in front of the gun and techmarine and the PCs slightly behind?
The ablatives go first, then the gun, if they die it leaves the techmarine, who can then join the PC servitors.
That sound about right?

The Servitor section says for every techmarine or MOTF you have in your army you can take a unit of Servitors.
The guy manning the TFC is most definitly a Techmarine.

Apparently I was wrong. But they'd just Mindlock or do whatever it is they do when not accompanied by a Servitor. Not worth the points. >.>
I'd rather just take a second TFC and for 10 pts cheaper than add Servitors, regardless.

I dont think you can add servitors as the techmarine is not an independent character until he leaves the cannon. But dont take my word for it im just going on assumptions really.
Also the range on the TFC is 60" not 48" so thats most things on the board.
Edit:
Just realised there was a second page of this thread
Yer i suppose you can take the servitors but as was said earlier they would mindlock if theres no techmarine attached, so not really worth it..

Sorry to tell you mate, you can't attach the techy to the servitors till the cannon is gone. cue mindlock.
And the TFC got a range of 60'' BTW.

TFC deserves a slot.
Think vindi does too, only chapter master can replicate what a vindi can do.
I think nice third slot choice is whirlwind. Yes i know, jibber jibber, let me explain. Ordinance, large blast, hidden, cheap. In essence while similar overall its providing quite a nice capability.
Whichever way we turn w marines i think reaching for redundancy will always come at a cost. If you want redundancy then reach for guard.
Not saying a second TFC is not awesome, am saying im planning on trialling these three together as my HS.

My friend Tom at the FLGS never leaves home without them. He takes three of them in every list, and while not amazing vs MEQ they tear Ork armies apart. Be aware that everything on the field with be fired at your TFC and beware of high strength, low ap artillery.

Yeah 2 TFCs would be a bit much. My HS slots are as follows:
1 Vindi
1 TFC
1 Mortis Contemptor with kheres and CML
they each have something they other 2 cant do quite as well, but the other 2 combined could make do (the only exception is the AA capabilities of the mortis. BUt i also have an icarus and 2 hyperios for backups there), and they are each high priority targets for my opponents and thus cant ALL die at once (and at either av13 or t7 reasonably tough to boot)
Automatically Appended Next Post: I just cant quite justify a whirlwind, as good as barrage is. 85 points for.. 1 str 5 ap 4 shot per turn on an av11 body doesnt quite cut it for me. Id rather go IG ally and get some artillary for cheaper, tougher, better AP value shots.

If I played C:SM I'd roll TFC and 2 vindicators. Str:10 Ap:2 twice is beautiful. Makes the HS section of the army nice and rounded, capable of dealing with just about everything. Drop pod stern guard can fill the roll of shooting up troops hiding behind an aegis and blowing up a tank rather than the whirlwind. It's just only got one role, and to be fair, it's not that good at that role.

Yeah, sadly the Whirlwind is really a lame tank. The TFC can ignore cover for cheaper and get more wounds on target potentially.
Its fragile, expensive, and its gun isn't all that impressive. Its only good against a couple armies, namely Orks and IG.
If your meta is heavy on those armies with footsloggers, the Whirlwind might be an ok choice.
But in a varied meta its just too specilized.

The TFC remains the same as it did in 5th. Its a powerful yet cheap heavy support that will always be effective VS your opponent.
Just now it has spoon fed stats/rules so people are willing to actually try it now lol. but it has always been strong.
you just get a lot of poor players who cried it had armor 10 and was too easy to destroy. which I agree its easy to destroy if you have no ability to build and play a list haha.

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood. |

Bets on a nerf to units GW has sold lots of?
Sternguard? Nerf.
Vulkan? Nerf.
Libby already took a beating with hood nerf.
Makes commercial sense, therefore highly likely.
Equally how to sell stuff not used? Buff.
LoTD? Buff.
WHirlwind? Buff.
Pure speculation but its proven, buff moves stock, just look at ADLs.

thunderfire cannon's are the unsung heroes of the vanilla marines in 6th. 4 small blasts strength 6 which wounds on 2's on almost all infantry. even models with a 2+ save will suffer from the sheer amount of wounds. i run 2 and a devastator squad with a MotF conversion beamer and destroy units while troops stay on objectives safely. only problem is deep striking units getting behind. but i will grab servitors if i know im playing demons or BA. they just a cheap meat shield for assaults. even though they still suffer from mind lock

Librarians are so much better than Chaos Sorcerers, it's not even funny. The powers they have access to are far better and to make matters worse Librarians actually get to choose their powers (hint: Null Zone and Gate of Infinity). Chaos Sorcerers cost less than Librarians because they are far worse.
