Says it all, i mean for 220 points you get a really nice terrain piece and you get a TL icarus cannon S9 AP2 interceptor, skyfire. and you get a 96" range large blase weapon.
is it it worth taking or would it just be better to take a agies defense line for anti air? if need be ill show you the list i am working with.

You also get several buildings to embark troops into IIRC.
The Barrage Blast weapon is pretty solid, and the Icarus is nothing to scoff at either. Although personally I'd love a Q

The only thing im worried about is it will thin my army out more then it is this is what i orginaly had
HQ:
Chaplain with term armor: 130 pts
Troops:
Tactical squad 1: Flamer, ML, sgt with combi melta
Rhino 1: w/ SB
Tactical squad 2: Flamer, ML, sgt with combi melta
Rhino 2: w/ SB
Tactical squad 3: Flamer, ML, sgt with combi melta
Rhino 3: w/ SB armor
elites:
Assault terminators: TH/SS
LandRaider: extra armor, Multi melta, detacated transport for assault term
Fast attack:
Stormtallon 1: Typhoon ML
Stormtallon 2: Typhoon ML
Heavy support:
Pred 1: TL laz cannon, side laz cannons
Pred 2: auto cannon side laz cannons
Pred 3: auto cannon side laz cannons
i was going to try and use the stormtalons as anti air but from what i was told they just get destroyed.
this is the list i came up with to add a fortress
HQ:
Chaplain with term armor
Troops:
Tactical squad 1: Flamer, ML, sgt with combi melta
Rhino 1: w/ SB
Tactical squad 2: Flamer, ML, sgt with combi melta
Rhino 2: w/ SB
Tactical squad 3: Flamer, ML, sgt with combi melta
Rhino 3: w/ SB armor
Scout squad, W/ snipers and ML and camo cloaks
elites:
Assault terminators: TH/SS
LandRaider: extra armor, Multi melta, detacated transport for assault terms
Fortification: Fortress of redemption
Heavy support:
Pred 1: TL laz cannon, side laz cannons
Pred 2: auto cannon side laz cannons
Pred 3: auto cannon side laz cannons
with this i would toss the snipers on the fort because we all know snipers+ defense line= super sauce so i thought snipers+fortress=super duper awesome sauce?

The only problem with it is it doesn't get to move.
This means you need to either:
A) Defend it and spread your army out inside or around it. (a definate problem for objective missions, though usually a boon for kill-point ones).
B) Split your forces so that you only have a skeleton crew guarding it and the bulk of your army pushes forward to deal with your foe. (which puts only a significant fraction of your army against the possibility of the entirety of theirs).
That said for what you get? it's very price-efficent. Parking a gunline in it makes them very well protected and the weapons on it are a steal for what you are paying for them. heck 4 AV 14 bunkers with fortified roofs for that nice cover save boost would probably be worth that price by themselves if you can insure they are placed strategically, let alone the anti-air and missile silo.

Seems an awful lot for a sniper nest and an icarus. I would consider it higher point games. If you do it i would go all out with the snipers and vehicles. I def would not want to go up against it

The lists that i posted are 2k point lists so they are for larger games, i di not put points because im not sure if it breaks form rules.
Another reason i went with the fortress is because i know there is that issue with terrain blocking by players so my logic was, you can block my be ill still be able to hit your troops with my barrage, ordnance, large blase weapons from 96" away

So it kill point games it will destroy people but in objective based games it might be a crutch, i supose the best thing to do in an objective based match is place it as far forward as possible and use it as a fire base?

Iv actually heard of a guy who used to to hold objectives by placing it in a corner with the objectives he deployed with. Forgot the details. But from.what I've seen and geard so far, FOR is a pretty mean structure for any game type

Marines by nature have a bias to shooty. Sure we have hammernators however our troops are fairly average in H2H.
On that basis in obj games in the past I have tried to set a solid firm base to inflict damage and neuter major threats for first couple of turns before rurning attention to what troops i have left and figuring out how to manoeuvre onto most accessable objectives.
Factoring in FOR this works perfectly. Two turns w your squishy guys in there handing out damage. It compliments your codex natural bias to shooty. Automatically Appended Next Post: * edit squishy for hard as nails emperors finest..

You can't put an objective on/in one. That said, there is nothing stopping you from putting objectives 0.1" away (and out of LOS behind your buildings, usually close to a corner of both the table and your deployment zone to limit lanes of approach), then either leaving a token scoring unit outside your Fortress or moving the one of the crews inside out next to the objective for turn 5.
That said you are usually only going to get to place one objective there, as the missions which let you place objectives generally have a rule that they cannot be within a certain distance of each other. (typically 12" from each other and/or 6" from a table edge.)
So you'll probably take that one, but if there are 3 (for example) other objectives on the board you'll have a hard time with at least some of them since a lot of your points will be tied up in the stationary building.

How does it work with the list? so for this fortress does it cost 220 pts? If so thats definatly worth it, I have several hq choices more expensive than that.

the problem with the fortress and the bastion is that you spend the points, you really have to man it. And if you man it and your opponent brings something that can bring it down, you will end up losing a lot of guys inside when the thing blows up.
Bastion Breacher rounds might be small blast, but against the FOR it's not like they can miss

Well, the issue i have now is what to man it with, either
A) man it with a scout squad and keep my 3 tac squads and 3 rhinos, or
B) man it with a tac squad, give the FoR the krakk missiles, cut out the rhino, then use the scouts in the field, but i lose the tac squad to help cap stuff.

I don't have one, but I have gone against it a couple of times. One game I used a Manticore on it, knocked down the bunker with the missiles first turn, the Icarus second turn. Second game I used the Master of Ordnance, who I sometimes take for fluffy reasons. He knocked the crap out of it too. The thing is, you have to make sure you can handle AV14 in any list, and the FOR is just a very large AV14 target that doesn't move. Its cool factor is off the charts, and I can see designing scenarios around it, but to take it in a pick up game or any sort of competitive environment, I just can't see it.
