I have found the only effective use for them is for Cities of death , against Tau , or any other uber shooty army , give it Triple Heavy Flamers and watch it go to town

It's called a Colossus. Except it's actually decent because it has AP 3.

Not entirely true.
The S6 AP4 5" blast with no cover save isn't ordnance, so you can fire all the other weapons at full BS.
Against large units, you can focus fire with the heavy bolters and pintle heavy stubber, then drop the pie plate.
It's decent against infantry. It's viable as a 3rd heavy choice (or a 5th/6th choice in big games).
It is not a first round draft pick.

The eradicator is fine for what it does. The problem is that it doesn't do very much. It's a pretty niche weapon, as it only really excels against scoring units that hang out on objectives with terrible armor saves. Good for rooting out pathfinders or scouts, or a harkerstar.
Unfortunately, that's basically all it's good at. It's been years since you could get away with spending so many points on something that was completely worthless against mech armies.

It really only takes out other IG infantry, scouts, or other horrible save (non SM) models. It is cheap, but that is it. It is a heavy weapon, so, it has that going for it too.
