I want. I loved the reboot and the entire cast they got. I'm looking forward to the new one. Granted, I wasn't much of a fan of anyone in the old series outside of Spock so maybe it's just that I'm a Next Generation and onward nerd.

you read my mind, that bad guy has Khan written all over it- few people hate mista kirk so far as to destroy entire planets to kill him and khan is one of them

What has new-Kirk done so far that deserves the kind of feelings old-Khan had for old-Kirk?
This. Unless they met behind the scenes (which I don't think is going to happen) then I'm not expect Wrath of Khan II. I personally am still pulling for it being Khan though, but rather this will be their first encounter in the new timeline. After all, Khan hardly needs Kirk to give him a reason to start cleansing the world of the weak

I think it's Gary Mitchell. The blonde girl in the trailer I've seen has same hair and look as Sally Kellerman's character had in that episode ("Where no man has gone before", the 2nd pilot).

I was thinking this as well.
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
Kirk and Khan originally met in the original series. As the new movies are set during the tv show timeline its perfectly acceptable for them to meet again for the first time. But as awesome as the reboot was its going to be pretty damn tough to top KHAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!
Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Because there is a very powerful wind instrument lobby.

It would be fairly easy to rewrite Khan's back story such that Pike marooned him.
Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.
Khan doesn't even need a reason to hate Kirk though.
Original fluff that is unchanged has Khan being a genetically engineered tyrant/leader that controlled a large part of Earth at some point. When he was discovered by Kirk he was already a bad guy and was planning on taking over the Enterprise. None of that fluff really changes in the new timeline.
So if the evil is already present in Khan, then they can easily explore that. In TOS Khan attempted to take over the Enterprise and was marooned by Kirk. In the new movies he could easily be discovered and make his way to earth to take back what he once controlled.
So it could be a Khan vs. Everybody instead of a particular Khan vs. Kirk story.

True, but the trailer paints Khan as more of a terrorist than a conqueror, even specifically stating that he is returning for revenge. The whole bit about the illusion of safety plays into that as well.

True, although I would imagine that there will be some change to his background fluff. I think the original had him flee earth during the eugenics was in the 1990's, so that obviously has to go. The old background had him as a "good tyrant" or something like that, still taking away people's powers but being a "better" tyrant than the other rulers. So maybe some kind of "I was the best rulers of them all, but the people rose up against me and made me flee earth and spend all these years frozen in space. Let me show you how your new society will fail you!" kind of story?

Well, it's also very heavily rumored that there's a Klingon subplot, so maybe they helped set things in motion?!
And this reboot is a clean slate since they pulled the 'alternate future' thanks to the actions of the first film. They don't really have to follow any of the timeline of the original series.

If it is Khan, that will be bad news, not least because a clear lack of original thought. As much as I like bond, new batman etc, does anybody else yearn for original ideas instead of Bond 23, batman re-boot, spiderman re-botting a re-boot etc etc

Yes.
This dosnt look like how i remember any of the origonals. Its more of n action shoot em up style than the origonals of which contained nuggets of action in between equally interesting plot scenes and political decisions

Probably another action movie. Not impressed by this star trek re-boot.
