This might just be the LotR fangirl part of me speaking, but isn't that the point?
The goblins and trolls are deliberately deformed. Goblins are malformed creatures which live underground (how many pretty things do you see which rarely see sunlight?), and it's a similar case with the trolls- they never go out in the sun, and they're dim-witted brutes- how many good looking, dim-witted brutish monsters do you see?
though I do agree, I can definitely see the likeness between that guy from the goonies (I forget his name) and the trolls...

JB: I like the concept of a free Shrike roaming through the treetops of the jungle. I'm not sure that I like the idea of a real Shrike sitting on my couch eating my Skittles.

They aren't bad sculpts at all, they look exactly like they do in the movie. And how much people personally like models has no bearing on price.
