Hi all,

So I've long been trying to find a way to convert up Easterling crossbowmen (counts as Corsair Arbelestors) for my army, but have long hit several dead ends. Obvious ideas were to combine Easterling bowmen with some Dark Elf or Empire bits, but with the difference in scale I reckon they would look silly.

So I reckon it's high time I ask you all for some ideas. Has anyone seen any such conversions done or any other ideas that could fit Easterling crossbowmen?

Haven't seen any, but how about using uruk crossbows?
they're both fairly heavily armoured, so you could even get away with using the uruk-hai arms.

Are the Uruks not metal though, and possibly even a bit bigger than Easterlings?

well, now they're finecast, and I've not tried to combine finecast and plastic, but if they're anything like metal, it should be fine- in fact, I've only just now finished cutting off the heads and arms of some rangers of the north and sticking them on riders of rohan which, as you might be able to tell, is kinda awkward.
heads could be a problem because of finecast's properties differing to plastic or metal, but simple arm swaps shouldn't be too bad.
as for scale, I really don't know, though I do have a friend who plays both easterlings and uruk crossbowmen, so I could take a look next time we have a game and get back to you on that.

That would be a help thanks though even then, buying and cutting the arms off of 32 Uruk Crossbowmen seems both financially and logistically awkward.

wow, 32 crossbowmen?
remember- you need to have enough non-archer/crossbowmen (up to a third of the army- in this case, you'd need 64 without) before you go out and buy anything- having nearly 100 models seems a bit much for an army

Well if you want crossbows I would rather just field plain Corsairs, would save you the issues indeed. And beside, Easterlings dont use crossbows, their bows are just as good if not better than crossbows if you look at the background. But for a gamewise thing I assume it could work. But I myself would find it somewhat iffy

This is for War of the Ring, not SBG.

Found some old Dark Elf Repeater Handbows in my bits box the other day, so I'm going to try them as a replacement for the bows on certain Archers.
