After a few games with my latest CSM list I've started thinking on paying the icon of vengeance for all my non-fearless troops. On the past 4 games I've lost 5 squads of CSM due to sweeping advances and what is worse is that i even pay VotLW on all my troops for that same reason, still the saddest thing is that of those 5, 3 times I've lost combat due to the champion challenging a lone HQ that obviously killed the champ so lost combat by 1, rolled 9-12 and off they go.

So, has anyone tried them out? If so, do you think is worth still paying VotLW? (considering all-comers lists so hatred would really just be situational) I'd guess if I'm getting fearless VotLW is paying for something that won't matter most of the time but there's always the chance of the icon getting sniped.

Just run noise marines instead. Kit them out with bolters, bolt pistol, ccw. They are cheap and fearless.

Try the icon, no harm in trying, fealress is pretty win, maybe consider condensing your squads into more numbers and running say 2 bigger squads attached to lords to give your dudes fearless.

well for that unlikely problem you might consider that with ANY icon, you wont run. You lose your champion, 1W. The icon is still in the combat, 1W. DRAWN COMBAT.
