Subject: This is the movie I'm most looking forward to this spring.
Looks like a fantastic film from the trailer, it will be interesting to see if they keep to the book or if they stray away from it, and in what direction.

I can honestly say, I would rather have a pack of weasels fight it out in my trousers while I tap dance and sing the musical score to Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman than see this film.

Think it's a case of what i like to call 'Catcher in the Rye syndrome' it's a book alot of people have been forced to read in middle school, hence the irrational hatred.

I was an English major..and I say pass too. No thanks. Disliked the book, but at least it wasn't a remake of Catcher in the Rye. Blech-Holden Caulfield needs to die, wrapped in barbed wire and set on fire.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Strictly Ballroom and Romeo+Juliet are good films, well strictly Ballroom is fantastic and R+J is pretty decent.
I think the word you're looking for is...
Its one of the films i used to watch with my Sis (i Also LOVE the Little Mermaid for the same reason) and i thought it was a damn sight better than Dirty Dancing, which i was also forced to watch.

As to this film, it looks gash. Dicaprio is a pish actor, he's (was) only good at looking pretty, hence his casting in R+J and Titanic.
Blood Diamond was pretty good, it seemed like he finally managed to find his adult self. The Aviator was also rather good and didn't revolve around how much of a pretty boy he is.

He's actually grown into a pretty decent actor.
Yeah, I agree, DiCaprio has a pretty decent record behind him now. That said, he's worked with excellent directors in most of those films, Scorcese in The Departed, Shutter Island, and The Aviator, Nolan in Inception, Mendes in Revolutionary Road. And in Django unchained he'll be working with Tarantino.
Here he's working with Baz Luhrman. So we'll see if he can stand alone, if nothing else.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I hated the book in school, then loved it later in life when I read it by choice.
I'm looking forward to this film.

Except it is horrible and boring.

I admit I was forced to read a lot of crap books in school (Their Eyes Were Watching God, Things Fall Apart and As I Lay Dying to name a few). And yet, I loved Catcher in the Rye.
Also Ender's Game but my english teacher hated it and refused to discuss it in class.

I enjoyed most of the books I was forced to read in school. The Scarlet Letter, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Hobbit, Seabiscuit. Except the Great Gatsby. It was just /bad/.

I actually liked Things Fall Apart. It was interesting. The Trial by Kafka on the other hand...

You got to read the Hobbit? Lucky. Then again, out of all of the books I had to read for class, I only really hated Medea, The Trial and The Great Gatsby.

I managed to get my teacher to let me study dracula, rather than one of the official texts for my gcse (many years ago) (it was the right time period, so she had to let me - that was the caveat)
Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.

Win.
English A+B (was worth two separate grades)
What was the other text? I found Dracula about as interesting as the shipping news. And I'm not a sailor.

To be honest, My hatred of English classes stem from horrible books. Only book I loved reading was "War of the worlds" because it was awesome. I remember giving my report while the teacher was playing castle crashers on his x-box in class.
Sadly it doesn't end in high school. Reading "Omnivores Dilemma", "Why we lie" and "Less then human"
Although I am glad my history teacher introduced me to "Blood Meridian"

You know, I used to hate DiCaprio, mostly because of R+J and Titanic. I was a teenager at that time, and since all the girls loved him I just knew he was a dumb actor.
But I have to say that he is actually pretty decent. Only watched "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" for the first time this year and he was pretty good in that. I enjoyed him in "Catch me if you can", and really good in "the Aviator".
I haven't seen Gangs of New York or the Departed, so can't really say anything about that. Same with J. Edgar and Inception.
