So I trialed out some Imperial Fists for a customer that wants me to do a big commission for (Something like 4 tactical squads, 2 devs, 2 scouts,2 ironclads and a land raider) At a tabletop standard, he was pleased with the trial results and has gave the go ahead (:

A marine

And a Rhino

Pleased with the results, but of course they will be a bit better looking and a little less rushed on his (I fixed the gun and purity seals on the marine after the photo :O )

Cheers guys (: (also, don't be afraid to like my facebook page in my signature Trying to build up an audience )

Agreed on all points

Customer has asked me to trial the colour scheme with non weathered and slightly stronger yellows to see which he prefers in person
, he reckons he will end up going for something in between, the standard isn't great on the mini simply because it's one of the free minis GW give you to attract customers My LFGS Gave me a few to help with commissions.

In fairness the trial wasn't up to scratch He knows this, but it will be my first big commission, so I'm looking forward to it

I'm sorry but you shouldn't really be passing this off as comission work, I wouldn't even call it table top.

You could practice painting within the lines as the eye lenses and some of the red covers a bit of the yellow. The highlights are not very straight and I can spot a few mould lines.

A little harsh, but, I kind of agree. However, it really depends on what the client is paying.

It is a good job if this is your first time painting, I'd be interested to see some of your other work.

This is some absurdly low quality table top. I've painted up armies to this quality for one of the Cold Steel Merc's 200+ Model "Footguard" list a few years back. But we're talking at 1$ a model to paint.

Hello out there!!

Table top quality is the way to go.

And your quality is just fine..Dont let the haters bring ya down. Keep on working on your technique and fine details.

I realize this was just a TEST model...some of the guys on this forum might not have read that part..

Keep on keepin on!!

HEY <<Fanchy>> take it easy out there...if your such an expert, lets see some of your work!! -- Nevermind, I took a look at your gallery...since when did the highlights on a skull look lighter on the bottom of a skull instead of the top? Where are your decals? Do all UltraMarines have solid black trim between their armor plates? Where is your basing? How about fine lines on your armor plates?

Before you go smash a Newbie, look at your own stuff and then do us all a favor and keep your thoughts and opinions to yourself.

People post pictures of their work in order to gather the thoughts and opinions of others. And, while I agree that Fanchy may have been a little cutting, I have to agree with him and you don't need to be getting ripped into his work which is clearly of a higher quality than this. Fanchy's model is described as his first. It'd be interesting to know how you voted on it and whether you're qualified to suggest against "smashing a newbie". Obviously it is completely down to the customer, but I don't think you should be considering commission work until you've got at least the basics down.

If this is simply a test for a colour scheme and the finished models are going to be neater, then that's different. But if this is going to be the standard, then I think the OP should be getting a bit more practice in. Sorry man, we were all beginners once and I remember how awful my first models were (much worse than anything you have here) but I really think that you shouldn't be taking money from someone for this. Again, obviously it's up to the customer. If the customer is happy, then he's happy.

Good luck
